The Philadelphia Inquirer believes free agents Nnamdi Asomugha and Jason Babin are both long shots to sign with the Eagles.
An Albert Haynesworth trade is also considered a long shot, primarily because Mike Shanahan won’t want to see a rejuvenated Haynesworth on an NFC East rival. Indications are the Eagles do have some level of interest in the veterans, but the steep price tags may result in fallback options for all three players.

Jason Babin and Antwan Peek are competing to start at right defensive end.
Babin has converted back to his college position after playing outside linebacker in Houston’s old 3-4. Anthony Weaver, Robaire Smith, and Seth Payne are rotating at tackle.
  • FA Defensive Lineman
Linebacker Jason Babin will remain a starter despite the improved play of Antwan Peek.
Peek registered a big sack on Sunday in place of Babin, but the Texans remain commited to the first-rounder.
  • FA Defensive Lineman
First-round pick linebacker Jason Babin was benched for poor play during the fourth quarter Sunday.
A setback for the converted defensive end. Babin started the season with two strong games, so we aren’t too concerned.
  • FA Defensive Lineman
Jason Babin had three sacks against the Jets in Week 15, giving him 18 on the season.
Babin now has eight sacks in his last three games, pushing him past Jared Allen and into the league lead. He continues to thrive in Jim Washburn’s “wide nine” formation, after racking up 13 last season with Washburn in Tennessee. There isn’t a hotter pass-rusher in the league heading into Week 16.

Eagles LE Jason Babin (strained calf) returned to practice on Monday and is set to make his 2012 debut in Week 1 against the Browns.
“I’m about 98.9 [percent],” Babin said. The 2011 Pro Bowler was given a 2-3 week recovery timetable after sustaining the injury on July 28, so he missed a little over five weeks. He’ll welcome rookies RT Mitchell Schwartz and QB Brandon Weeden to the NFL on Sunday.
  • FA Defensive Lineman
Eagles DE Jason Babin has canceled plans to participate in the annual “Running of the Bulls” in Pamplona, Spain this July.
It sounds like Babin was reminded of a clause or two in his contract. A natural in Eagles DL coach Jim Washburn’s “wide nine” formation, Babin is looking to tally 13 or more sacks for the third straight season.
  • FA Defensive Lineman
Eagles LE Jason Babin’s strained calf will sideline him 2-3 weeks, but he’s expected to be ready for Week 1.
Babin is dealing with a second-degree strain. The 2-3 week timeline has him iffy for the Eagles’ second and third preseason games — which are just four days apart on August 20 and 24 — but it’s still possible Babin will end up missing only one exhibition tilt. It shouldn’t be a major issue for a player who’s averaged 15.5 sacks the past two seasons, playing all 32 games in the process.

Eagles coach Andy Reid confirmed that Jason Babin (strained calf) is expected to suit up for the team’s Week 1 game in Cleveland.
Babin was given a two-to-three recovery timetable after suffering the strain in late July. It appears that he hasn’t suffered a setback and will line up opposite Trent Cole on September 9.

Eagles LE Jason Babin doesn’t figure to practice at all this week due to a calf strain.
Babin’s calf strain was overshadowed a bit by WR Riley Cooper’s broken collarbone on Saturday, but the good news is that it’s unrelated to his Achilles’ and shouldn’t keep him out much longer than the next week. Babin signed a five-year, $28 million contract with the Eagles one year ago yesterday.
