Cowboys waived DE Jimmy Saddler-McQueen and promoted DB Andrew Sandejo from their practice squad.

Sandejo, an undrafted rookie out of Rice, ripped up the UFL earlier this year with 48 tackles to rank second in the league, also chipping in two picks and seven pass breakups. He’ll add depth to a porous Cowboys back end.

Saddler-McQueen was with the Cowboys in training camp and has now returned with the defensive line ravaged by injury. He doesn’t figure to have an integral role, but he immediately becomes a contender for the coolest name in football award.

Cowboys waived RB Herb Donaldson, RB Lonyae Miller, OT Will Barker, TE DajLeon Farr, OLB Curtis Johnson, and DL Jimmy Saddler-McQueen.

The Cowboys liked what they saw out of Donaldson and Miller, but the team is only carrying three backs. Miller, who played Ryan Mathews at Fresno State, could end up on the practice squad.

Cowboys claimed DT Jimmy Saddler-McQueen off waivers from the Rams.

Saddler-McQueen isn’t much of a fit for Dallas’ 3-4 scheme at 6'3/298. In a best case scenario, the Texas A&M-Kingsville alum will earn a practice squad spot.
