Bills elevated WR John Brown for Week 14 against the Jets.
The move marks the second consecutive week that Brown will join the active roster for the Bills. Brown played 12 offensive snaps in Week 13 but did not receive a target.

  • FA Defensive Back #29
Bills signed CB Xavier Rhodes and WR John Brown from the practice.
The team placed CB Christian Benford on injured reserve in an associated move. Benford had been listed “week to week” with an oblique injury but will now miss the minimum four games. John Brown returns to the team as wide receiver depth.

  • FA Wide Receiver #16
Packers hosted free agent WR John Brown for a tryout on Wednesday.
The Packers also worked out TE Sal Cannella, OT Airon Servais, and CB Bryce Watts. With Julio Jones and Will Fuller still out there, trying out Brown is as underwhelming as it gets. Green Bay may just be looking for an extra camp body, as Brown wasn’t much more than that last year. He started the 2021 offseason with Las Vegas, but couldn’t crack their final roster. He then spent time with the Broncos, Jags, and Bucs. Despite the Packers’ thin receiving room, Brown is a long-shot to make their roster if he signs in Green Bay.

Bucs signed WR John Brown to the practice squad.
Brown, of course, is intimately familiar with coach Bruce Arians’ system. On the other hand, that system has probably been changed beyond recognition by Tom Brady. Considering the Bucs’ ridiculous injury issues at wideout, Brown might actually get some playoff reps, but he struggled to stay on 53-man rosters this season. He sadly seems to have gone off the post-30 receiver cliff.

Jaguars signed John Brown, formerly of the Broncos, to the practice squad.
The team also added former Colts running back Jordan Wilkins to their practice squad. Brown opened the year with the Raiders but he didn’t appear in any games and was cut a few weeks into the season. He then joined a receiver-needy Broncos squad but only lasted two weeks in Denver. The Jaguars have a thin receiving room but Brown is still unlikely to see more than a few snaps if he gets called up from the practice squad.

Broncos elevated John Brown off the practice squad for Week 7 against the Browns.
Even with all of Denver’s receiving injuries, Brown was not targeted in Week 6’s loss to the Raiders, a game he was also elevated for. He will remain a stash-and-see for fantasy purposes..

  • FA Wide Receiver #16
Broncos elevated John Brown to the 53-player roster for Week 6 against the Raiders.
Signed by the Broncos last week, Brown could see game action against Vegas if they team activates him. He’s far from a fantasy option, and with Jerry Jeudy (ankle) likely returning from injured reserve in Week 7 or Week 8, Brown has an exceedingly small avenue to fantasy relevance in 2021.

  • FA Wide Receiver #16
Broncos signed WR John Brown to the practice squad.
It’s a necessary addition as Denver has struggled to find a second downfield threat beyond Courtland Sutton without both Jerry Jeudy (ankle, IR) and K.J. Hamler (torn ACL) available the past two games. Brown will open on the team’s practice squad but, given his experience over slot wideout Kendall Hinton, Diontae Spencer, and David Moore, could get promoted to the active roster in no time. Jeudy is also expected to return within the next month. Brown most recently appeared in nine games for the Bills last year, totaling 33 catches for 458 yards and three scores.

Falcons worked out free agent WR John Brown on Tuesday.
Brown was released by the Raiders in late August after it became apparent that Henry Ruggs, Bryan Edwards, and Hunter Renfrow were ahead of him in the pecking order. The 31-year-old appeared in nine games for the Bills last season, hauling in 33 catches for 458 yards and three touchdowns. The Falcons are thin at wide receiver after Calvin Ridley, although rookie tight end Kyle Pitts basically operates as the WR2.

  • FA Wide Receiver #16
    Raiders released WR John Brown.
Brown supposedly “requested” his release, but this move had been telegraphed for several days now. It did not seem implausible that Brown would emerge as the Raiders’ de facto No. 1 receiver upon his signing in March, but instead coach Jon Gruden seemed to think Brown didn’t have any legs left. He will undoubtedly get another opportunity elsewhere as a field stretcher. The Raiders are moving forward with young guns Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards alongside veterans Willie Snead and Hunter Renfrow. It’s not a great situation for Derek Carr, who figures to lock on ever tighter to Darren Waller.
