Jets LB Josh Mauga is out for the season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle in Monday’s game.
A special teamer and top reserve at linebacker, Mauga had played 52 defensive snaps through five games. He’s a restricted free agent in 2013.

Jets placed LB Josh Mauga on injured reserve with a torn pectoral, ending his season.

  • FA Linebacker #90
Jets re-signed LB Josh Mauga to a one-year contract.
Mauga was set to be a restricted free agent, but he had no chance of getting even the lowest tender. The Jets likely re-upped with him for the league minimum with no guaranteed money. Mauga will battle for a special teams role.

The Jets won’t tender an offer to restricted free agent LB Josh Mauga.
Mauga tore his pectoral in Week 5 and missed the remainder of the season, but he’s expected to be ready for training camp. Largely a special teamer, he’s recorded 44 tackles and an interception in 29 career games.

Chiefs ILB Josh Mauga is out for the season with a torn labrum in his shoulder.
It’s a big blow to Kansas City’s defense, which will also be minus OLB Justin Houston (knee) for the first six games. Mauga isn’t a difference maker inside, but he is coming off a solid season as a 14-game starter. Next to Derrick Johnson, Ramik Wilson is listed behind Mauga on the depth chart at inside linebacker.
  • FA Linebacker #90
The Chiefs’ official site listed ILB Josh Mauga as an unrestricted free agent.
Mauga reportedly signed a three-year deal prior to the 2015 season, but it is possible those reports were wrong or the contract included a voidable year. Mauga missed all of 2016 with a torn labrum, and he has proven to be a replacement-level starter at best. Going on 30, Mauga likely will not break the bank if he hits the open market.
  • FA Linebacker #90
    Chiefs released ILB Josh Mauga.
Mauga was a starter in 2014-15, but missed all of 2016 with a shoulder injury. He languished on the open market until July, and didn’t show enough in the first five weeks of camp to earn a roster spot. Now on the wrong side of 30, Mauga’s career could be winding down.
  • FA Linebacker #90
Chiefs re-signed ILB Josh Mauga and S Steven Terrell.
Mauga started 30 games between 2014-15, but missed all of 2016 with a torn labrum in his shoulder. He turned 30 last month. He’s an experienced Chiefs hand who will have a legitimate shot at cracking the 53-man roster.
  • FA Linebacker #90
    Chiefs signed LB Josh Mauga.
