CFL player Jovan Olafioye is expected to receive interest from a number of NFL teams this offseason.
Olafioye worked out for the Vikings and Dolphins this week, and is scheduled to meet with the Browns, Steelers, and Jets. An undrafted free agent in 2010, he projects as capable of playing both tackle positions and was among the finalists for the league’s Offensive Lineman of the Year award. According to CFL rules, Olafioye will not be available to sign with an NFL team until January 2.
  • Rams released OT Jovan Olafioye.
Olafioye failed his physical due to an undisclosed medical concern. The 6-foot-6, 325-pounder had visited 15 teams before signing with the Rams. He will return to the CFL’s B.C. Lions for the 2012 season.
  • Rams agreed to terms with former CFL OT Jovan Olafioye.
Olafioye, 24, spent the past two seasons in the Canadian League, and in 2011 was credited with zero sacks allowed for the 2011 Grey Cup champion B.C. Lions. He’s listed at 6-foot-6, 325. We saw at least one report indicating he’s closer to 350. Olafioye was a finalist for CFL Offensive Lineman of the Year this past season. He’ll compete for a roster spot in training camp.
  • The Rams waived OT Jovan Olafioye in February because he failed his physical due to hypertension/high blood pressure.
Olafioye knew about the high blood pressure, but stopped taking his medicine during a busy tryout schedule around the NFL. He’s expected to spend one more season in the CFL, and give the big leagues another try next offseason.
  • Former CFL OT Jovan Olafioye met with the Packers last Thursday but was turned down by Green Bay’s medical staff.
Olafioye went through a similar charade last offseason, agreeing to a deal with the Rams before being released due to medical concerns stemming from hypertension. “It’s my blood pressure, but I’ve got it under control,” Olafioye insisted. “I’ve been to so many doctors and I’ve been cleared by them all.” Olafioye claims the Ravens and Steelers have also shown interest in him.
