Miguel Sanó hit his eighth and ninth homers of the Dominican Winter League season on Wednesday.
Sanó is batting .356/.435/.847 in 17 games, which is a big improvement over his .265/.342/.515 line for Estrellas last year. He’s currently leading the DWL in homers by four, even though some players have played in twice as many games as he has. Sanó, who had 30-homer seasons with the Twins in 2019 and ’21, played in 28 games for the Angels in 2024, but he didn’t return to the U.S. last season. His big showing here should make it easy for him to get a minor league deal, if he’s interested.

    Angels released 1B Miguel Sanó.
Sanó has been cut loose to pursue other opportunities after going unclaimed on waivers. The 31-year-old slugger batted just .205/.295/.313 with two homers and six RBI in 95 plate appearances over 28 games for the Angels in his first stint back in the big leagues since 2022. He batted just .045 (1-for-22) with one homer in seven games after returning from the injured list back in late June following a two-month stint on the injured list.

Angels designated INF Miguel Sanó for assignment.
Sanó’s exit velocity numbers were strong after his year away from baseball, but his 38% strikeout rate left him with a .205/.295/.313 line in 95 plate appearances. There’s still the chance that he could be a net positive for a major league team given regular playing time, but his upside is pretty limited at this point.

Miguel Sanó went 0-for-3 on Friday, leaving him 1-for-22 since coming off the injured list last week.
That one hit was a homer, but he still has only two of those in 92 plate appearances for the season. At just .205/.295/.313 overall, he might be in danger of losing his spot once Anthony Rendon returns.

Angels activated INF Miguel Sanó from the 10-day injured list.
Sanó is back with Los Angeles following a two-month absence due to a left knee injury, and a bizarre setback when he suffered a serious burn after falling asleep with a heating pad on that same knee. The 31-year-old slugger has one round-tripper in 21 games this season for the Angels.

Miguel Sanó (knee) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.
The 31-year-old slugger has been shelved with a knee issue since the start of May. It’s unclear how long he’ll need before he’s an option to return to the Angels’ lineup. Before landing on the injured list, Sanó had hit .262/.352/.361 with a homer, five RBI and a 27/8 K/BB ratio in 71 plate appearances with the Halos.

Angels removed Miguel Sanó (burned knee) from his rehab assignment.
The veteran burned his left knee last weekend after taking the protection off his heating pad to make it hotter. The burn has not healed, so the team has brought him back to Anaheim, and there is no timetable for his return. Yes, all of that is true.

Miguel Sanó will have his rehab program stalled after burning his left knee with a heating pad.
Well, that’s a new one. Sanó has been on the shelf since the start of May with inflammation in his knee, and the 31-year-old left the pad on a bit too long. It’s only expected to keep Sanó out the next couple days, and it’s a nice reminder that you can burn yourself with a heating pad.

Angels placed INF Miguel Sanó on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 28, with left knee inflammation.
The Angels had been playing a man down while the 30-year-old slugger was hobbled by a knee injury, but they simply couldn’t do it any longer. Willie Calhoun had his contract selected from Triple-A Salt Lake to take his place on the active roster.

Miguel Sanó (knee) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.
Sanó will miss his fourth straight game due to ongoing left knee soreness. He’s day-to-day for now.
