According to Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Mike Sims-Walker “certainly can handle the slot” and is listed directly behind Danny Amendola on the Rams’ receiver depth chart.
Amendola may be done for the year with a badly dislocated left elbow. No Rams receiver has been targeted more by Sam Bradford since the start of the 2010 season, so there are going to be a lot of balls up for grabs in St. Louis’ pass-first offense. Brandon Gibson plays strictly outside, and the Rams have praised Sims-Walker’s “versatility.” We should have a bit better idea about the Rams’ new-look receiver corps by the end of this week.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Mike Sims-Walker caught six passes for 92 yards in St. Louis’ 28-16 loss to the Giants in Week 2.
MSW was clearly Sam Bradford’s go-to target, seeing 11 passes thrown his way on the night. A large chunk of those were knocked down or under/over thrown, but Sims-Walker did a great job of hauling in the balls that reached him. As long as Danny Amendola stays sidelined, Sims-Walker will be the No. 1 target in the St. Louis receiver corps. Danario Alexander may have put up a touchdown and more yardage tonight, but MSW is the Ram you want in fantasy.

The Jaguars have inquired about bringing back free agent WR Mike Sims-Walker, according to beat writer Tania Ganguli.
The Jags allowed Sims-Walker to walk in free agency this offseason and then he was cut by the Rams yesterday for performance reasons. Still, the Jags are desperate for weapons. Mike Thomas is really just a secondary receiver and Jason Hill has 14 catches in five games. Sims-Walker averaged 3.07 catches for 40.1 yards in 14 games as a Jaguar last season. He’d struggle to top those numbers with Blaine Gabbert at the helm.

Mike Sims-Walker will play in Monday’s game against the Ravens.
Sims-Walker spent the first three seasons of his career in Jacksonville, so getting up to speed in the offense is not a concern. The Florida Times Union confirms that he “could have a significant role” tomorrow. Still, MSW is not a fantasy option with raw Blaine Gabbert at quarterback. He averaged just 3.07 catches for 40.1 yards as a Jag last season with veteran David Garrard throwing the passes.

Jaguars released WR Mike Sims-Walker with an injury settlement.
MSW underwent knee surgery in November, although the extent is unknown. We don’t expect Sims-Walker to play another NFL snap over the final month.
  • FA Wide Receiver #89
Jason Hill (wrist) is active for Sunday’s game against the Texans.
Hill is averaging 3.6 catches for 69.6 yards with two touchdowns over his last three games, but we’d still avoid him in fantasy. With Blaine Gabbert showing few signs of improvement and Mike Sims-Walker (active, illness) in the fold, the plodding Hill has very little upside.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Mike Sims-Walker was held without a catch in Sunday’s loss to the Texans.
Sims-Walker was targeted four times as part of a rotation at receiver, but was predictably unproductive. His meager skill set combined with Blaine Gabbert’s ineptitude leaves MSW way off the fantasy radar.

Jaguars placed WR Mike Sims-Walker (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Sims-Walker was serving as Jacksonville’s third receiver before the latest setback with his knee. The knee has been an issue since Sims-Walker’s college days at UCF, where he played opposite Brandon Marshall. Exposed as a middle-of-the-road talent over the past two seasons, Sims-Walker’s NFL future is cloudy. He’ll be a free agent in 2012, and won’t be a great bet to make a roster.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Mike Sims-Walker, placed on injured reserve Thursday, is expected to undergo knee surgery next Tuesday.
The extent of the procedure is unknown. Sims-Walker has an extensive history of knee problems going back to his college career. With his NFL future up in the air at age 27, Sims-Walker won’t attract much attention on the 2012 free agent market.

Mike Sims-Walker missed Jaguars practice Friday with an illness, but is listed as probable for Week 8.
Sims-Walker was actually sick on Thursday, gutted it out and was unable to go on Friday. Regardless of whether he’s active against the Texans, Sims-Walker won’t be a fantasy option. He had one catch for 11 yards in Week 7.
