Aaron Civale tossed five shutout innings with three strikeouts in a no-decision against the Royals on Tuesday.
Civale had one of his better outings so far, holding the Royals scoreless over five innings. He scattered five hits and one walk while striking out three on 95 pitches, 58 for strikes. The 30-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.23 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 24/8 K/BB ratio across 30 2/3 innings. He lines up for a start against the Guardians in Sacramento on Sunday.

The Athletics plan to skip left-hander Jacob Lopez during his next turn in their rotation on Monday.
Lopez had been lined up for two starts next week, but the A’s announced on Sunday that Aaron Civale, Luis Severino and Jacob Springs would start the three games in their series against the Royals. That means that Civale will now pitch twice — both at Sutter Health Park — against the Royals and Guardians. Even if you’re desperate for volume and looking for weekly starters to stream, don’t put yourself through the pain of those two starts from Civale.

Aaron Civale yielded three runs in 5 1/3 innings Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Mariners.
Civale was pulled with a 3-2 lead after giving up a Josh Naylor single and retiring Randy Arozarena to begin the sixth. Brady Basso was brought in to face the lefty combo of Luke Raley and Dominic Canzone, but Dan Wilson, as he’s demonstrated he would do, pulled both for righties, and Mitch Garver doubled to tie the game. Civale is through five starts with a 3.86 ERA and a 21/7 K/BB in 25 2/3 innings. There’s still nothing here for fantasy leaguers, but the A’s have to be happy with his performance. He’ll take on the Royals next week.

Aaron Civale surrendered five runs and 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the White Sox.
Civale was coming off nice outings against the Yankees (1 R in 5 IP) and Mets (0 R in 5 2/3 IP), but the lowly White Sox got to him. in fact, he allowed more hits tonight than in his first three starts combined (10). Civale was never a good bet in a tough environment in Sacramento, and he should be avoided in fantasy leagues going forward, even though his next start, in Seattle against the Mariners, makes for a pretty good matchup.

Aaron Civale shut out the Mets for 5 2/3 innings in earning a victory Sunday.
Nine of the Mets’ 17 balls in play against Civale were hit hard, but he allowed just four singles. He struck out three and walked none. This gives Civale a 1.72 ERA through three starts, but we’d still generally suggest staying far away in fantasy leagues. That said, he does have a forgiving matchup against the White Sox slated for Friday.

Aaron Civale was charged with one run over five innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Yankees.
Civale finished with six strikeouts and issued four walks. He gave up only two hits, including a solo shot to Amed Rosario, but was still forced to settle for a no-decision after the Athletics’ bullpen was unable to hold the lead. He’ll continue his tour of New York by closing out a two-start week with a matchup against the Mets at Citi Field on Sunday afternoon.

Aaron Civale pitched five innings of two-run ball in a victory over the Braves on Tuesday.
Civale allowed four hits, walked one and struck out three. The lone run came on a Drake Baldwin homer. Civale’s velocity is down 1-2 mph from last year, when he posted a 4.85 ERA in 18 starts and five relief appearances for three clubs. He seems like a particularly weak bet in a tough situation for pitchers in Sacramento, but he held his own in this one. He’ll likely face the Yankees next time out.

Aaron Civale fanned 11 over six innings of shutout baseball against the Mariners on Thursday.
That’s three more strikeouts than his 2025 season high. Civale allowed only two hits and walked none tonight after giving up four homers and eight runs over 7 2/3 innings in his first two starts. His velocity was down about two mph from last year in those first two outings, but he got back most of that tonight; his 91.8 mph average on his fastball was down only 0.3 mph from last year. We’d still stay far, far away in fantasy leagues, but the A’s have to be feeling better about things after this one.

Aaron Civale was tagged for six runs and three homers in four innings by the Padres on Friday.
Civale had a 4.85 ERA last season, and he’s currently throwing about two mph slower than he did then. As friendly as Sutter Health Park played for hitters last season, this could get ugly quickly.

Aaron Civale yielded one run and six hits in 2 2/3 innings against Team Brazil on Tuesday.
Civale’s velocity was down 2-3 mph from last year’s norms, as he topped out at 90.4 mph today. He’s virtually assured of a spot in the Athletics’ rotation after signing for $6 million last month, but he figures to have a tough time this season as a flyball pitcher in a very hitter friendly ballpark.
