Sources told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand that the Brewers are likely to trade either Trevor Megill or Freddy Peralta, with Megill being the better bet to go.
Megill is arguably the best reliever available in trade talks or free agency at the moment, and it can’t hurt the Brewers that Robert Suarez just signed with a team that already had a closer. A trade would make things easier on fantasy leagues who wouldn’t have to decide whether to rank Megill or Abner Uribe higher on draft day. If Megill is dealt, both could enter 2026 as top-15 RPs, with Uribe potentially going in the top five.

Abner Uribe worked scoreless eighth and ninth innings with a two-run lead against the Cubs to close out Game 5 of the NLDS on Saturday.
Uribe pitched three scoreless innings during the series, and he seems locked in as the Brewers’ closer for the NLCS. We wouldn’t hand him the title for 2026 just yet, but he’s making a case, even if Trevor Megill, who opened with a scoreless first today, did nothing wrong besides getting hurt.

Abner Uribe turned in a perfect ninth for his seventh save Sunday against the Reds.
The Brewers got Trevor Megill back today, but he worked in the fourth to have a structured appearance in his return from the IL. Uribe continue to fill in at closer and concluded a stellar season with a 1.67 ERA, 90 strikeouts and a major league-high 44 saves+holds. He allowed 13 earned runs in 76 1/3 innings this season. Last year, he gave up 11 earned runs in 14 1/3 innings.

Brewers activated RHP Trevor Megill from the 15-day injured list.
Megill makes it back to spearhead Milwaukee’s high-leverage mix heading into the postseason after missing the final month of the regular season recovering from a flexor strain. The 31-year-old stopper should reclaim the closing role from Abner Uribe heading into the playoffs, but he’ll likely operate in middle relief during Sunday’s season finale as he get into his first live game action in nearly five weeks.

Abner Uribe struck out two in a flawless ninth for his sixth save Wednesday against the Padres.
Uribe has fanned nine over five scoreless innings in his last five appearances. Despite being a part-time closer with Trevor Megill out, Uribe still leads the majors in holds by three with 37. His 43 saves+holds also lead the league.

Trevor Megill (forearm) faced hitters Tuesday in a 25-pitch live batting practice session.
Megill continues to make lightning-quick progress in his rehabilitation from a low-grade flexor strain that put him on the injured list back in late August. The 31-year-old righty may be able to skip a rehab assignment altogether after his next live session this weekend. His speedy return would push temporary stopper Abner Uribe back to a setup role.

Abner Uribe worked a clean ninth inning to secure the save against the Pirates on Friday.
It took Uribe just eight pitches – four sinkers and four sliders – to slam the door shut in this one. He’s looked the part since stepping in for the injured Trevor Megill as the Brewers’ closer and should be trusted in that role until Megill returns.

Jared Koenig struck out one batter in his lone inning of work to earn the save over the Phillies on Wednesday.
The Brewers patched the end of this game together well with the left-handed Aaron Ashby coming in to face Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber in the seventh inning, Abner Uribe taking the five through seven hitters in the eight, and the other lefty Koenig retiring Schwarber to end the game. Koenig did hit ninth hitter Weston Wilson, which is the only reason Schwarber had to come up, but it seemed like he was in the game with him and Harper looming anyway. This is the first time since Trevor Megill went down that Uribe didn’t get the save opportunity, so chalk it up to Pat Murphy playing the matchups with those two talented lefty bats for Philly.

Trevor Megill, on the shelf with a flexor strain, will throw a bullpen session Thursday.
Megill is aiming for a quick return after going on the IL on Aug. 27, retroactive to Aug. 25. Abner Uribe is serving as the Brewers’ closer now.

Abner Uribe struck out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning to record the save against the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Uribe was summoned in the bottom of the ninth after the Brewers took a three-run lead in the top of the frame. He worked around one hit, striking out one batter for his fourth save. The 25-year-old right-hander has recorded a 1.68 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and a 78/24 K/BB ratio across 64 1/3 innings. Uribe will continue to work save chances while Trevor Megill (elbow) is sidelined.
