Pirates recalled OF Andrew Lambo from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Lambo will take the place of the injured Starling Marte on the Pirates roster. He went just 1-for-9 with a double and an RBI during his recent call-up, but possesses massive power and could be in line for more at-bats this time around. He may be worth a flyer in NL-only leagues.

Pirates optioned OF Andrew Lambo to Triple-A Indianapolis.
The yo-yoing continues for Lambo, who has been promoted and demoted four different times since August 13. He has posted exceptional power numbers this year in the minors but hasn’t been very productive for Pittsburgh.

Pirates recalled OF Andrew Lambo from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Lambo has been up-and-down several times over the past month and probably won’t get enough playing time down the stretch to warrant a waiver add in standard fantasy leagues. He had a tremendous season this year in the minors, slugging 32 homers alongside a .922 OPS.

Andrew Lambo will join the Pirates’ active roster before Tuesday night’s series-opener in St. Louis.
Lambo, 25, has registered a .284/.350/.576 batting line with 31 home runs and 97 RBI in 117 games this season between Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis. He can play both corner outfield spots and first base, and isn’t being promoted to sit on the bench. Go ahead and grab him in standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Pirates purchased the contract of OF Andrew Lambo from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Lambo gets the call after batting .284/.350/.576 in 117 games this season between Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis. The 25-year-old was tied for the minor league lead with 31 homers. He hasn’t displayed this type of power production in the past and he’s prone to the strikeout, so his success isn’t a lock to translate in the majors, but the Pirates are hopeful he’ll provide a boost out of right field. Give him a chance in NL-only or deeper mixed fantasy leagues if you need power.

Pirates optioned OF Andrew Lambo to Triple-A Indianapolis.
The Pirates were forced to make a roster move for another arm after Jeff Locke lasted just 2 2/3 innings on Saturday. Lambo’s stay in Pittsburgh was a short one, as the 25-year-old went 1-for-9 with a double and an RBI in limited time. He will likely be back with the club when September arrives.

Tom Singer of MLB.com writes that “the Pirates’ early impression of Chris McGuiness is far too good for them to make a quick move for anyone else.”
The potential “move” Singer is referring to is related to a report Sunday from Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe that the Pirates are scouting Red Sox outfielder/first baseman Mike Carp. Andrew Lambo has also reportedly looked good in his work at first base. Carp actually hit a two-run homer versus the Pirates Monday, but perhaps the Pirates will stay in-house as they seek a platoon partner for Gaby Sanchez at first.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said that Andrew Lambo will receive “as many reps as possible” at first base this spring.
Lambo is primarily an outfielder, having played just 41 of his 623 games in the minors at first base. However, there’s playing time to be had at first, and the Pirates want to give him an extended look at the position. If he fares well at the position this spring, it’s possible he could work his way into the strong side of a platoon with Gaby Sanchez.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle hinted this week that Andrew Lambo could be an option to start for the Pirates in 2014.
The 25-year-old slugger has the ability to play both first base and right field, which are the two gaping holes currently on the Pirates roster. He had an impressive 2013 campaign, slashing .282/.347/.574 with 32 homers and 99 RBI in 120 games between Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis. As long as he hits, he should see regular playing time, making him an interesting target in the later rounds of deeper mixed and NL-only leagues.

Andrew Lambo underwent surgery for testicular cancer last week at Vanderbilt University.
Lambo is currently on the disabled list at Triple-A Nashville with no timetable for activation. He’ll undergo another round of pathology tests this week before the physicians at Vanderbilt can map out a plan. Baseball obviously isn’t the focus at the moment.
