    Prieto currently has a 2.64 ERA in nine starts in the Mexican Pacific Leagues. Both he and Schmack should get opportunities to make the Tigers as middle relievers.

    Prieto had a 2.55 ERA in four starts for Triple-A Nashville this year, but he was got hurt in late April and was released in June. A strong winter should allow him to land a minor league contract.
