Colt Keith (rib) has officially made the Tigers’ ALDS roster.
Keith has been added to Detroit’s roster after missing the club’s Wild Card Series against Cleveland with right rib cage inflammation. The 24-year-old figures to get plenty of opportunities to face Seattle’s righty-heavy rotation. Reliever Brenan Hanifee is the only other new addition with Justyn-Henry Malloy and Paul Sewald being excluded.

Tigers optioned RHP Brenan Hanifee to Triple-A Toledo.
Hanifee draws the short straw in a roster crunch for Detroit with lefty Brant Hurter returning to tbe majors despite a stellar 3.00 ERA across 60 innings over 54 appearances. The 27-year-old figures to return at some point before the regular season wraps up and should be in the mix for a postseason roster spot.

Tigers recalled RHP Brenan Hanifee from Triple-A Toledo.
Hanifee returns to Detroit’s bullpen mix prior to Sunday’s contest against the torn-down Twins after spending a couple weeks back in the minors. The 27-year-old righty has had a phenomenal season, compiling a pristine 3.10 ERA across 52 1/3 innings (46 appearances) at the highest level.

Tigers optioned RHP Brenan Hanifee to Triple-A Toledo.
Hanifee heads to the minors to make room for newly acquired veteran starter Charlie Morton on Detroit’s active roster. The 27-year-old righty holds a sparkling 3.10 ERA across 52 1/3 innings (46 appearances) this season. He should return at some point in August.

Tigers recalled RH Brenan Hanifee from Triple-A Toledo.
Hanifee was just optioned to Toledo on Tuesday, but because Beau Brieske (ankle) was placed on the injured list, the Tigers can recall him before the usual mandate of 15 days in the minors. He’ll work in the middle innings with Brieske out.

Tigers optioned RHP Brenan Hanifee to Triple-A Toledo.
Hanifee has been shipped back to the minors to make room for Keider Montero to come up and make a spot start on Wednesday against the Brewers.

Brenan Hanifee will open on Saturday against the Athletics.
Hanifee will take the ball as Detroit’s opener before giving way to rookie southpaw Brant Hurter, who has posted a solid 3.25 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 26/3 K/BB ratio across 27 2/3 innings (six appearances, one start) so far, for a bulk relief appearance. There’s definitely some streaming appeal here with Hurter, especially for fantasy managers in extremely deep leagues.

Tigers selected the contract of RHP Brenan Hanifee from Triple-A Toledo.
Hanifee made three relief appearances for Detroit last year and gets the call back to the majors following their flurry of trade deadline moves earlier this week. The 26-year-old righty figures to operate in middle relief after compiling a pedestrian 5.17 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 53/14 K/BB ratio across 47 innings (34 appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.
  • DET 2nd Baseman
Tigers optioned INF Buddy Kennedy to Triple-A Toledo; reassigned RHP Brenan Hanifee, INF Jace Jung, and OF Justice Bigbie to minor league camp.
Jung was already told that he wasn’t going to make the big league team out of camp, but he acquitted himself well in spring training, hitting .375/.476/.563 with a home run and just three strikeouts in 12 games. Jung will be playing third base once the minor league season begins and could be up in Detroit over the summer. Bigbie could get a shot in the Tigers’ outfield at some point this season if they need to cover for any injuries.

Tigers re-signed RHP Brenan Hanifee to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Hanifee, 25, made his big league debut with the Tigers during the 2023 season, posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and a 3/0 K/BB ratio across his five innings of work. He’ll need a strong showing in Grapefruit League action to crack the team’s Opening Day bullpen.
