White Sox sent RHP Bryse Wilson outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
Wilson had been designated for assignment earlier in the week. He passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra rotation depth for the White Sox at the Triple-A level.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #46
White Sox designated RHP Bryse Wilson for assignment.
Instead of getting another chance in the rotation with Jonathan Cannon down, Wilson is being bumped from the White Sox roster here. The veteran was 0-2 with a 6.95 ERA in five starts and 14 relief appearances. He’ll likely clear waivers.

White Sox placed RHP Jonathan Cannon on the 15-day injured list with a strained lower back.
This explains why his stuff was off in last night’s loss to the Tigers. Cannon takes a 2-7 record and a 4.66 ERA with him to the IL. That doesn’t seem like much, but it’s considerably better than his replacement is likely to do. As much as the Triple-A rotation has struggled this year, the Whtie Sox might just default back to Bryse Wilson as Cannon’s replacement.

Filling in for Jonathan Cannon, Bryse Wilson gave up four runs — two earned — in four-plus innings Saturday versus the Rangers.
Wilson, who lost his rotation spot as a result of the Adrian Houser signing, was making his first appearance in nine days. He could fill in again next week if Cannon requires an IL stint. If not, he’ll pitch in middle relief.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #48
Jonathan Cannon has been scratched from Saturday’s start against the Rangers with lower back tightness.
It’ll be Bryse Wilson taking the ball to kick off a bullpen game for Chicago. It’s unclear at the moment whether Cannon will require a trip to the injured list, but there should be some clarity on his status at some point this weekend. The 24-year-old holds a respectable 3.76 ERA across 55 innings (10 appearances, eight starts) this season.

Bryse Wilson was tagged for seven runs in 5 1/3 innings by the Reds in Thursday’s loss.
Wilson gave up runs in every inning he pitched, other than the second. He’s sporting a 6.00 ERA and a 19/14 K/BB ratio in 33 innings on the season, and if he remains in the rotation, he’ll face the Mariners next time out.

Bryse Wilson pitched well in a no-decision on Friday night, limiting the Marlins to one run on three hits over his five frames.
Wilson issued a pair of walks on the evening while recording only one strikeout. The lone tally against him came in the opening inning as Jesús Sánchez smacked a run-scoring single after Xavier Edwards had walked and stolen second base. He settled in nicely afterwards though and kept the Marlins off the board the rest of his night. Wilson got just seven whiffs on 83 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 20 percent. He’ll try to build off of this strong start as he totes a 4.88 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and a 16/13 K/BB ratio (27 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Reds in Cincinnati.

Bryse Wilson allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the White Sox’ rain-shorted 5-4 victory over the Astros on Sunday.
Wilson gave up nine hits, walked two and struck out four. He allowed a two-run single to Mauricio Dubon in the second inning and a two-run home run to Zach Dezenzo in the fifth inning. Wilson has mostly been used out of the bullpen this year and his ERA sits at 5.56 after Sunday’s start. He’s lined up to face the Marlins at home next weekend, but isn’t a recommended fantasy option despite the matchup.

Bryse Wilson didn’t pitch well as the bulk reliever in a loss against the Brewers on Tuesday night, giving up three runs on two hits in his 3 1/3 innings of work.
Wilson also issued three walks on the evening while recording only one strikeout. He took over in the third inning with the White Sox leading 2-1 and kept the Brewers at bay through his first three frames. He seemed to tire in the sixth though, as he allowed a walk and a couple of singles, one of which plated the tying run. The White Sox then went to the bullpen — and both inherited runners ultimately scored. The 27-year-old hurler got three whiffs on 58 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 21 percent. He now holds a 5.00 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and an 11/9 K/BB ratio over 18 innings on the season.

Bryse Wilson allowed five hits and one run with three walks and one strikeout across 2 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Twins on Wednesday.
Making his first start of the season, Wilson was expectedly unimpressive here. He forced just three swings-and-misses in total and exhibited poor command while allowing 10 base runners in fewer than three innings of work. He is not a viable option in any league format.
