Braves optioned LHP Hayden Harris to Triple-A Gwinnett; reassigned RHPs Carlos Carrasco, Elieser Hernández and James Karinchak to minor league camp.
The latest batch of cuts trims Atlanta’s spring training roster to 50 players. Carrasco is one of the highest-profile non-roster invitees in Braves camp this spring as he attempts to make it back to the big leagues for a 17th season since 2009. He figures to gobble up low-leverage innings at some point in the year. The same goes for Hernández and Karinchak, who were notable pitchers earlier this decade.

Carlos Carrasco was tagged for five runs in 1 2/3 innings by the Yankees on Thursday.
All five runs came in the first, when Carrasco was pulled with two outs. The second inning went smoothly, though, as he retired Trent Grisham, Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger in order. Carrasco remains a long shot to claim the fifth spot in Atlanta’s rotation.

Carlos Carrasco blanked the Rays for two innings and struck out three on Saturday.
Carrasco, who turns 39 in 10 days, finessed his way to six outs today, as his hardest pitch checked in at 90.5 mph. He’s in the mix for a spot in Atlanta’s rotation, though it hurts his case that the club has so many out-of-options candidates (Grant Holmes, Bryce Elder, José Suarez and Joey Wentz, to be specific). Carrasco is in camp on a minor league deal, though he will have the right to become a free agent if he doesn’t make the team.

Braves re-signed RHP Carlos Carrasco to a minor league contract.
Carrasco returns to the fold as emergency depth for Atlanta after compiling a bloated 7.09 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 34/17 K/BB ratio across 45 2/3 innings over 11 appearances (nine starts) between the Braves and Yankees last season. The long-time fixture in Cleveland’s rotation would be back for his 17th season in the big leagues if he makes it to Truist Park at some point next year.

Braves re-signed RHP Carlos Carrasco to a minor league contract.
He’s back. Carrasco’s foray into free agency lasted only a few hours before latching back on with Atlanta as emergency organizational pitching depth. The 38-year-old veteran was torched for 15 runs on 22 hits across 13 2/3 innings of work in his three starts for the Braves.

Braves RHP Carlos Carrasco elected free agency.
The Carrasco era comes to a close in Atlanta after just three calamitous starts where he was shelled for 15 runs on 22 hits across 13 2/3 innings of work. It’s possible this is the end of the road for the 38-year-old veteran after a 16-year career that dates back to 2009.

Braves designated RHP Carlos Carrasco for assignment.
This doesn’t come as a huge surprise with Carrasco having yet another subpar start on Wednesday night. With Hurston Waldrep pitching well, this move opens up a spot for him to remain in Atlanta’s rotation going forward. Sadly, this may be the end of the road for Carrasco.

Carlos Carrasco allowed six hits and six runs with three walks and two strikeouts through two innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Wednesday.
Sometimes people say a pitcher has “nothing”. Well, right now, Carrasco literally has nothing. He let the first four batters of this game reach base and was fortunate to allow just six runs through two innings while leaving 89 mph sinkers in the heart of the plate. Somehow, the Braves stormed all the way back to win this game and get Carrasco off the hook. After an exceptional career, Carrasco simply does not have much left in the tank.

Carlos Carrasco was hit hard in a no-decision against the Marlins on Thursday evening, giving up six runs on nine hits across his 5 2/3 innings of work.
The 38-year-old hurler also walked two batters on the night while striking out a pair. Most of the damage came during a five-run uprising in the second inning that featured a two-run triple by Eric Wagaman and a two-run homer off the bat of Graham Pauley. Carrasco got eight swings and misses on 103 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 23 percent. He’ll carry a troublesome 6.18 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and a 32/14 K/BB ratio (43 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Mets in New York.

Carlos Carrasco posted a quality start in a no-decision against the Reds in his Braves’ debut on Thursday, surrendering three runs on seven hits over his six innings of work.
Carrasco racked up five strikeouts on the evening while issuing a pair of free passes. The 38-year-old hurler allowed an RBI double to Tyler Stephenson and served up a two-run blast to Elly De La Cruz in the third inning to account for the damage done against him. He finished his day with three scoreless frames though. Carrasco got 13 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 31 percent. He’ll do battle against the Brewers the next time he takes the hill on Wednesday evening.
