    Charlie Furbush announced his retirement.
Furbush last pitched in the majors in 2015, when he posted a 2.08 ERA over 33 games with the Mariners. He was unable to make another appearance at the MLB level after he underwent Rotator Cuff surgery that year, and he retires with an ERA of 3.97 over 247 games with the Seattle and the Tigers.

Charlie Furbush allowed three runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings on Tuesday, falling to 3-9 in Seattle’s 3-2 loss to the Yankees.
It wasn’t all bad news, as he struck out six and walked none against a strong Yankees lineup. Furbush has failed to notch a quality start in four of his last five outings. He hasn’t had a decent start since mid-August. Keep him benched in AL-only leagues.

Charlie Furbush was lit up by the Rangers Sunday, giving up six runs -- five earned -- on six hits and a walk over just 4 1/3 innings.
He struck out four, served up a pair of home runs and needed 95 pitches to cover the 4 1/3 frames. It’s Furbush’s second straight terrible outing, and he’s been quite awful for the Mariners since coming over from Detroit, posting a 6.62 ERA over 11 games -- 10 starts. The lefty has a good minor league track record, though, and has a shot to be a decent back-end starter, especially in that home park. He’ll compete for a rotation spot next spring.

Mariners optioned LHP Charlie Furbush to Triple-A Tacoma.
Furbush posted an impressive 0.87 ERA and 7/2 K/BB ratio over 10 1/3 innings this spring, but the Mariners elected to send him down to the minors and keep Rule 5 pick Lucas Luetge. The 25-year-old southpaw is expected to work as a late-inning reliever with the Rainiers.

The Mariners are expected to option left-hander Charlie Furbush to the minor leagues this week.
It’s not a real surprise. Felix Hernandez, Jason Vargas, Hector Noesi, Blake Beavan and Kevin Millwood will make up the M’s rotation to kick off the 2012 season.

Mariners recalled LHP Charlie Furbush from Triple-A Tacoma.
Furbush posted a 0.82 ERA and 7/2 K/BB ratio over 10 1/3 innings this spring, so one could argue that he should have been with the big club all along. The 25-year-old southpaw should pitch in middle relief.

Charlie Furbush (triceps) has declared himself “fine.”
Furbush was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Royals after just two pitches because of tightness in his left triceps. But he made some additional throws in a cage after exiting and felt no lingering discomfort. He’s day-to-day and should avoid the disabled list.

Charlie Furbush left Tuesday’s game with an apparent shoulder injury.
Furbush got the lone batter he faced to ground out but then grabbed at his shoulder before walking off the field with the trainer. It would be a big blow if it’s a significant injury, as the southpaw boasts a 2.17 ERA and 0.80 WHIP for the year.

Charlie Furbush has been diagnosed with tightness in his left triceps.
Furbush exited Tuesday night’s appearance against the Royals after throwing just two pitches. He’ll be re-evaluated Wednesday before the Mariners get a feel for how much time he’s likely to miss.

Charlie Furbush (triceps) will make his second minor league rehab appearance Monday with Triple-A Tacoma.
Furbush allowed one run on two hits over one inning in his first rehab appearance on Friday, but notched three strikeouts. Mariners manager Eric Wedge said that he should be activated from the DL if all goes well Monday.
