Dodgers optioned OF Michael Siani and RHP Paul Gervase to Triple-A Oklahoma City; reassigned LHP Cole Irvin, RHP Ryder Ryan, INF Noah Miller, OFs Zyhir Hope, Zach Ehrhard and James Tibbs III to minor league camp.
Siani is the most prominent inclusion among the big leaguers in this latest batch of cuts from Dodgers camp. The 26-year-old defensive specialist figures to be up with Los Angeles at some point in a bench role. Hope is the biggest prospect in this group as he ranks right up there with Eduardo Quintero, Josue De Paula and Mike Sirota as one of the organization’s top prospects.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #24
Cole Irvin picked up a victory in Thursday’s Cactus League start against the Reds despite allowing one run on two hits and four walks in his two innings of work.
The 32-year-old southpaw struck out one batter on the night. The Reds put plenty of traffic on the bases against Irvin, but he was able to limit the damage to just one run as he walked Rece Hinds with the bases loaded in the second inning. Overall, Irvin threw just 29 of his 57 pitches for strikes, getting three whiffs and posting a miserable CSW of only 19 percent. He now holds an unsightly 9.00 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and a 4/5 K/BB ratio over eight innings during Cactus League play. He should be ticketed for Triple-A Oklahoma City to open the season.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #24
Cole Irvin was obliterated in Thursday’s Cactus League start against the Reds, giving up six runs on six hits in his three innings.
Irvin walked one and struck out one during the disappointing outing. His struggles stemmed from his inability to keep the ball in the yard, serving up two-run homers to Elly Da La Cruz, Will Benson and Matt McLain. The 32-year-old left-hander got just two swings and misses on 43 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 18 percent. His chances of cracking the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster were already slim and they took a hit with Thursday’s disastrous outing.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #24
Dodgers signed LHP Cole Irvin to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 32-year-old southpaw spent the 2025 season pitching for the Doosan Bears of the Korea Baseball Organization. There, he compiled a 4.48 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and a 128/79 K/BB ratio over 144 2/3 innings in his 28 starts. He’ll add pitching depth for the World Champions.
  • INT Starting Pitcher #24
Cole Irvin signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Doosan Bears of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Irvin will have a chance to revive his career in the KBO. The 30-year-old’s $1 million deal is the maximum allowed for a first-year foreign player in Korea. Irvin threw 111 innings in 2024 between the Orioles and Twins with a 5.11 ERA.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #24
Twins designated LHP Cole Irvin for assignmment.
The Twins threw Irvin into big situations twice after picking up off waivers from the Orioles this month, and it didn’t work out either time. Really, though, it didn’t seem like great judgment using him that way in the first place. He allowed five runs in 3 2/3 innings in his brief Twins career.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #68
Twins designated RHP Randy Dobnak for assignment.
The Twins needed to make room on the 40-man roster for Cole Irvin, so they chose to move on from Dobnak. The 29-year-old posted a 5.87 ERA in 7 2/3 innings out of the bullpen for the Twins in 2024. He could go unclaimed and return to the Twins’ minor league system.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #19
Twins claimed LHP Cole Irvin off waivers from the Orioles.
Irvin was designated for assignment yesterday after posting a 4.86 ERA in 16 starts and nine relief appearances on the season. The Twins could opt to use him in that same swingman role or perhaps insert him into the starting rotation with rookies David Festa and Zebby Matthews battling consistency issues. We’ll need to see how this pans out over the next few days. Randy Dobnak was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Irvin.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #19
Orioles designated LHP Cole Irvin for assignment.
Irvin did fine in a couple of starts last month with Zach Eflin on the IL, but the Orioles had used him just twice in relief since Eflin was activated. He has a 4.86 ERA in 16 starts and nine relief appearances on the season. It’s possible someone will put in a claim with the idea of having him around as a swingman next year.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #19
Cole Irvin gave up two runs over 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Dodgers.
To his credit, Irvin managed to hold his own and spare Baltimore’s bullpen from having to soak up even more innings on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. He struck out three and also issued a pair of walks. The 30-year-old southpaw figures to lose his spot in Baltimore’s starting rotation once Zach Eflin (shoulder) is ready to come off the injured list at some point in early September. He’s in line to take the ball on Sunday against the Rockies at Coors Field. He should continue to be ignored in all fantasy formats until further notice.
