Cory Dunlap went 3-for-4 with two homers and two walks in first game of Single-A Vero Beach’s doubleheader on Friday.
He went 1-for-3 with a walk in the second game. Dunlap, a 2004 third-round pick, is batting .257/.438/.457 in 11 games since joining Vero Beach earlier this month. The OBP is no fluke -- he entered the year at .425 since being drafted -- but Dunlap has weight issues and isn’t very good defensively. If he makes it, it may be as an American League DH.

Cory Dunlap went 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI for Single-A Vero Beach yesterday.
The 21-year-old Dunlap, a third-round pick last year, is hitting .303/.393/.415 for Vero Beach. If he develops power, he’ll be interesting.

Cory Dunlap went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and four RBI for North Shore of the Hawaiian Winter League on Tuesday.
Dunlap, a 2004 third-round pick, is batting .294/.385/.412 in 34 at-bats in Hawaii. He finished at .261/.435/.461 in 284 at-bats in the Florida State League thsi year. That he’s a poor first baseman will hold him back as a prospect and he’s probably not ever going to overtake James Loney in Los Angeles. However, his on-base skills might make him attractive to a few AL teams if he can put together a nice season in Double-A in 2007.
