Giants acquired C Daniel Susac from the Twins in exchange for C Miguel Caraballo and cash considerations.
Susac lasted about two hours with the Twins after being selected by Minnesota in the Rule 5 draft. The 24-year-old will have a chance to win a backup job with the Giants this spring.

Twins selected C Daniel Susac from the Athletics with the fourth pick in the Rule 5 draft.
He’s being traded to the Giants, though it’s not official yet. Susac, the 19th overall pick in the 2022 draft, was one of the biggest names available today. His stock steadily dwindled in 2023 and ’24, but he’s coming off a pretty solid season in which he hit .275/.349/.483 with 18 homers in 97 games in Triple-A. He could battle to become Patrick Bailey’s backup in San Francisco.

Daniel Susac homered twice and drove in five runs Friday to propel an A’s split-squad past the Reds 8-6.
Susac was among Oakland’s first cuts on March 3, but the 2022 first-round pick got a chance to play behind Shea Langerhans today and made the most of it, leaving him 4-for-8 on the spring. He’s due to open 2024 back in Double-A after playing 13 games at the level at the end of last year.

Athletics optioned LHP Hogan Harris and RHP Osvaldo Bido to Triple-A Las Vegas; Re-assigned RHPs Danis Correa, Stevie Emanuels, Michel Otañez, Jack Perkins, Billy Sullivan and Shoehei Tomioka, LHPs Easton Lucas and Domingo Robles, C Daniel Susac, OF Jeisson Rosario and INFs Cooper Bowman, Drew Lugbauer and Jacob Wilson to minor league camp.
The timing is bit surprising on the demotion for Harris, as he’s been having a terrific spring (four scoreless innings with a 6/2 K/BB ratio) and he recorded a save in Cactus League action on Sunday. He and Bido will almost assuredly see time with the big league club during the 2024 campaign, but there were no huge surprises among this first large batch of cuts from the Athletics.

Athletics signed first-round pick C Daniel Susac.
Susac was picked up with the 19th overall selection in the 2022 MLB Draft and is the younger brother of former big-league catcher Andrew Susac. The 21-year-old backstop will reportedly receive a $3.531 million signing bonus.

Athletics selected Arizona C Daniel Susac with the 19th pick of the 2022 MLB Draft.
Susac is the younger brother of former MLB backstop Andrew Susac, if you were curious. A right-handed hitting backstop, the 21-year-old has a strong throwing arm, and while he’s not an elite receiver, he should be able to stay behind the plate. The reason he’s drafted this high, however, is his bat, as he has a chance to hit for both average and power at the highest level. He’s a well below-average runner, but that’s true for most players who play the position. Susac could be a quick advance, and while he’s not an elite fantasy prospect at this point, it’s not hard to see relevance from Susac as a potential .275-plus, 20-25 homer player.
