Twins acquired RHP Darren Bowen, OF Gabriel Gonzalez, RHP Justin Topa, RHP Anthony DeSclafani and cash considerations from the Mariners for INF Jorge Polanco.

Bowen, 22, was a 13th round selection by the Mariners from the 2022 draft class. He looked sharp in his first season of professional ball — posting a 3.88 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 59/25 K/BB ratio over 55 2/3 innings in 19 appearances (15 starts) at Single-A Modesto. Given his success there, expect him to start the 2024 season at High-A Cedar Rapids or even Double-A Wichita.

Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports that right-hander Anthony DeSclafani will head to the Twins as part of a four-player return package for infielder Jorge Polanco.

The Twins will also receive right-hander Justin Topa, minor league outfielder Gabriel Gonzalez and minor league pitcher Darren Bowen. DeSclafani had just been acquired by the Mariners in early January along with Mitch Haniger in a trade from the Giants. His path to a full-time spot in a starting rotation looks much clearer with the Twins than it would have been with the Mariners.
