Braves reassigned OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. and INF/OF Tristin English to minor league camp.
Keirsey was in Braves camp as extra outfield depth and won’t make the club’s season-opening roster, even after left fielder Jurickson Profar was hit with a 162-game PED suspension. The 28-year-old got into 74 games for the Twins last year and is more of a defensive specialist than anything else. He could be up as a temporary stopgap at some point during the season.

Braves signed OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Keirsey, 28, appeared in 74 games for the Twins in 2025 — mostly as a late-inning defensive replacement or as a pinch-runner. He logged just 88 plate appearances, slashing .107/.138/.179 with two long balls, six RBI, 10 stolen bases and a 33/2 K/BB ratio. It’s a nice depth signing for the Braves.
  • FA Center Fielder #21
Twins non-tendered OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr.
Keirsey Jr. will hit free agency after hitting just .107 with a 33/2 K/BB ratio over his 88 plate appearances with Minnesota in 2025. The outfielder will have a market because of his defensive abilities, but it’s hard to imagine more than a one-year minor-league deal.
  • MIN Center Fielder #21
Twins designated OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. for assignment.
The Twins needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for the acquisition of Alex Jackson on Friday and unfortunately for Keirsey, he was the odd man out. The 28-year-old outfielder hit a paltry .107/.138/.179 with two homers, six RBI and a 33/2 K/BB ratio in 88 plate appearances with the Twins in 2025.

Twins recalled OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. from Triple-A St. Paul.
Keirsey Jr. will replace Luke Keaschall (wrist), who was placed on the IL. Since Keaschall is an infielder, Keirsey Jr. is more than likely up to be a bench bat for the final four games of the season.
  • MIN Center Fielder #21
Twins optioned OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to Triple-A St. Paul.
The 28-year-old is hitting .108/.140/.181 with two home runs and nine steals in 86 plate appearances this season. He remains in his pre-arbitration years, so he should continue to be an up-and-down Quad-A player for the Twins in 2026.

Twins recalled OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. from Triple-A St. Paul.
Keirsey Jr. gets the call with Matt Wallner (oblique) on the 10-day injured list. The 28-year-old will act as a reserve outfielder for the final week and a half of 2025.
  • MIN Center Fielder #21
Twins optioned OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to Triple-A St. Paul.
Keirsey was just recalled from Triple-A when rosters expanded on September 1, but they wanted to add another catcher to the roster to cover for the injured Ryan Jeffers (head) and unfortunately Keirsey was the odd-man out. He has hit just .110/.141/.183 with a 32/2 K/BB in 85 plate appearances with the Twins this season.

Twins recalled OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. from Triple-A St. Paul.
Keirsey will reclaim his bench spot after spending most of August in the minors. He’s hit just .110/.141/.183 with a 32/2 K/BB in 85 plate appearances over 67 games in the majors this season.
  • MIN Center Fielder #21
Twins optioned OF DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to Triple-A St. Paul.
Keirsey showed enough in the minors in 2023 and ’24 to suggest that he might be a nice bench piece, but he’s had a dreadful 2025, hitting .110/.141/.183 with a 32/2 K/BB in 85 plate appearances over 67 games. Certainly, the lack of consistent at-bats is a factor, but he just hasn’t resembled a major leaguer.
