Daulton Varsho (wrist) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.
Toronto skipper John Schneider told reporters Varsho underwent an MRI that didn’t reveal any structural issues. It remains unclear why he simply hasn’t gone to the injured list since he’s out of the lineup for the fourth straight game with a lingering left wrist issue. It’s plausible that he’s available off the bench, if needed, but the Blue Jays will roll with Nathan Lukes patrolling center field on Tuesday night.

Daulton Varsho (wrist) remains out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Phillies.
Varsho remains on the bench for the third consecutive game due to a lingering left wrist issue. It’ll be Myles Straw continuing to handle center field in his absence. The 29-year-old is presumably available off the bench, which was the case over the weekend, but the Blue Jays are giving him some extra time off to manage the situation. It’s an encouraging sign that he’s managed to avoid a trip to the injured list.

Daulton Varsho (wrist) was held out of the Blue Jays’ starting lineup once again on Sunday.
Varsho was pulled from Friday’s series opener against the Orioles due to inflammation in his left wrist and has now been held out of the next two contests, though he did appear as a defensive replacement on Saturday. He’s still considered day-to-day. Myles Straw will make another start in center field and will bat ninth for the Jays against Shane Baz and the Orioles on Sunday afternoon in Toronto.

Daulton Varsho made an appearance as a defensive replacement Saturday against the Orioles.
Speculation during the broadcast was that he wasn’t going to be allowed to hit after being excluded from the starting lineup with left wrist inflammation. However, he was able to play the last two innings in center without his spot coming up.

Daulton Varsho (wrist) is out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Orioles.
Varsho receives some extra time off to rest and recover following his removal from Friday’s series opener against the Orioles with left wrist discomfort. X-rays came back negative. Blue Jays manager John Schneider expressed optimism that Varsho, who has been dealing with the lingering wrist issue recently, will be able to return in a couple days. Myles Straw takes over in center field on Saturday afternoon in his absence.

Daulton Varsho was removed from Friday’s game against the Orioles due to left wrist discomfort.
It appeared as though Varsho aggravated his wrist during a pair of swings in his first at-bat on Friday. He’s likely to undergo additional evaluation and imaging to determine exactly what’s going on there. As of now, he’s considered day-to-day.

Nathan Lukes is out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Marlins.
Blue Jays skipper John Schneider told reporters the decision was made to give Lukes some time to rest his hamstring and isn’t related to him being struck in the helmet by a pitch during Monday’s series opener. The 31-year-old outfielder went 3-for-4 in his return from the injured list after missing nearly a month with a left hamstring strain. Daulton Varsho is back in the lineup patrolling center field on Tuesday night at the Rogers Centre.

Daulton Varsho collected four of the Blue Jays’ nine hits and stole a base Tuesday against the Yankees.
All of the hits were singles, and the last was a routine grounder botched by the defense. Still, Varsho is happy to have his average up to .278. It’s weird that he’s pretty much gone back to his old approach this year after a successful 2025 in which he traded contact for power. He’s fanning just 18 percent of the time right now, down from 28 percent last year, but his isolated slugging percentage is .160 right now, compared to .310 last year.

Daulton Varsho went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored as the Blue Jays defeated the Tigers 4-1 on Sunday.
Varsho’s three-bagger was an opposite-field poke that scored Vladimir Guerrero Jr. from first base. It was the second straight multi-hit performance for Varsho, and fourth in his past eight games. That doesn’t include his walk-off grand slam against the Rays earlier this week, either. He batted in the three-hole on Sunday, but that coincided with days off for George Springer and Kazuma Okamoto. Varsho mostly hits fifth against righties, and his defense keeps him in the lineup against most lefties as well, though lower in the order.

Daulton Varsho delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the 10th inning on Saturday, lifting the Blue Jays to a 2-1 extra-inning win over the Tigers.
Varsho’s extra-inning single brought home the Manfred Man and helped Toronto eke out a narrow victory on a day where six different relievers combined to limit Detroit to just one run over 10 innings. The 29-year-old center fielder is hitting .286 (16-for-56) with two homers, seven RBI and one steal over his last 15 games.
