Braves manager Walt Weiss told reporters Drake Baldwin (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend.
Baldwin is slated to take live batting practice later this week before heading out to kick off a rehab assignment. He’ll need at least a couple games to get back up to speed, especially from a catching standpoint. The 25-year-old burgeoning superstar has been on the shelf recovering from a mild right oblique strain since May 19. There’s a strong possibility he’s back in Atlanta’s lineup somewhere around mid-June.

Braves manager Walt Weiss said Drake Baldwin (oblique) could potentially return in mid-to-late June.
Baldwin hit the injured list with a low-grade right oblique strain back on May 19. The 25-year-old rising star, who was hitting .303/.389/.543 with 13 homers and 38 RBI in 48 games prior to the injury, is on track to return to Atlanta’s lineup at some point during their next homestand, which runs from June 16-21. His return should provide a significant boost for the Braves and fantasy managers alike, as he’s delivered first-round value this season.

Braves manager Walt Weiss told reporters Drake Baldwin has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 right oblique strain.
It’s a best-case outcome for Atlanta and fantasy managers after Baldwin landed on the injured list prior to Tuesday’s game against the Marlins. A low-grade oblique strain typically carries a 3–4 week recovery timeline, putting him in line for a mid-to-late June return. The 25-year-old burgeoning star has been the most impactful catcher in fantasy this season, hitting .303/.389/.543 with 13 homers and 38 RBI through 48 games. A clearer timetable should come once he resumes baseball activities.

Braves placed C Drake Baldwin on the 10-day injured list with a strained right oblique muscle.
Well, this is a bummer. Baldwin has been one of the best catchers in baseball this season, slashing .303/.389/.543 with 13 home runs, 38 RBI, and one steal in 48 games. He ranks first among catchers in home runs, first in runs scored, second in RBIs, and second in wRC+. He needs to be held in all league types, even if you don’t have an IL spot. Hopefully, he can return some time in June.

Drake Baldwin went 2-for-3 with his 13th homer and a walk Saturday against the Red Sox.
Baldwin has hit in seven straight games, homering in four of those. He drove in both Braves runs tonight with his leadoff homer in the first and his single in the fifth. In 2025, Baldwin was the NL Rookie of the Month for May. This year, he might have a shot at Player of the Month for May, having hit .296/.387/.667 with six homers to date.

Drake Baldwin went 2-for-4 with a solo homer during Friday’s win over the Red Sox.
Baldwin clobbered a majestic 407-foot blast to straightaway center field off Red Sox lefty Connelly Early in the opening frame. The 25-year-old slugging backstop has homered three times in his last five games and is up to 12 round-trippers through 45 games after last year’s 19-homer rookie campaign. He’s been a certifiable middle-of-the-order force for Atlanta this season and a key reason why they hold the best record in baseball after seven weeks. He’s been a first-round fantasy asset this season, firmly cementing himself as the top young catcher in the league.

Drake Baldwin hit his 11th homer Wednesday off the Cubs’ Shota Imanaga.
It’s Baldwin’s fifth homer off a lefty this season. A left-handed hitter, he’s batting .323/.413/.585 versus southpaws, compared to .278/.355/.481 against righties. He was also slightly better against lefties than righties last year, too. The homer tonight actually came on the lowest EV of his three balls in play. He hit that one 99 mph and had 103- and 106-mph lineouts.

Braves manager Walt Weiss told reporters Sean Murphy (finger) is likely to miss eight weeks.
Murphy hit the injured list prior to Tuesday’s series opener against the Cubs with a fractured left middle finger. The 31-year-old, who missed nearly six weeks to open the year recovering from offseason hip surgery, will likely be sidelined until after the All-Star break in mid-July. It’ll be journeyman Sandy León taking his roster spot as Drake Baldwin’s primary caddy during his absence.

Drake Baldwin hit a two-run homer while driving in four runs and going 3-for-4 in a blowout win over the Rockies on Saturday.
Baldwin made it a 2-0 lead for Atlanta with his homer off Brennan Bernardino in the first inning. He also doubled, singled and walked to improve his slash to .312/.391/.522 over the first 33 games of the year. Atlanta has looked like one of the best teams in baseball to begin the year, and Baldwin is a big reason for that.

Drake Baldwin went 2-for-4 with a two-run double and a walk in the Braves’ 9-4 defeat of the Nationals on Monday.
Baldwin has been stuck on five homers for two weeks now, but he’s still hitting .313/.377/.510. He leads the majors in both runs (23) and RBI (21), though since he’s tied with five others in the RBI category, that might not be true by the end of the night.
