Rockies reassigned LHP Sean Sullivan, LHP Konner Eaton, LHP Adam Laskey, OF Drew Avans, RHP Eiberson Castellano and C Kyle McCann to minor league camp.
No major surprises among this batch of cuts, though Sean Sullivan showed out well during Cactus League play and likely put himself in a position to earn his first promotion to the big leagues at some point in 2026 when the Rockies need another starter.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #63
Rockies signed RHP Eiberson Castellano to a minor league contract.
Castellano was shipped back to the Phillies last spring after the Twins made him the ninth overall pick in the offseason Rule 5 Draft. The 24-year-old reliever posted a pedestrian 5.14 ERA (4.18 FIP) and 24.2 percent strikeout rate over 35 innings over 20 appearances for Double-A Reading last season. He’s a low-risk dice roll for Colorado’s new-look front office.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #63
Twins returned RHP Eiberson Castellano to the Phillies.
Castellano heads back to Philadelphia after being unsuccessful in a bid to make Minnesota’s season-opening bullpen mix. The 23-year-old righty was ninth pick in the offseason Rule 5 Draft after posting a 3.99 ERA across 22 appearances (20 starts) last year in the minors.
  • Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports that the Twins have informed Eiberson Castellano he won’t be a part of the Opening Day roster.
Castellano was the Twins’ Rule 5 draft pick, and Minnesota obviously didn’t feel comfortable with carrying him on the roster throughout 2025. Minnesota can try and work out a trade with the Phillies — the team the Twins selected Castellano from — but if not, he’ll be returned to the organization.
  • Twins selected RHP Eiberson Castellano from the Phillies with the ninth pick of the 2024 Rule 5 draft.
Castellano is a 23-year-old right-hander who reached Double-A last year, and he forged a 3.99 ERA in 22 appearances — 20 starts — with an impressive 136/29 K/BB over 103 2/3 innings. His starting background may be the long-term play, but he’ll obviously need to be a bullpen piece if he’s going to make the Twins in 2025.
