The Mets are bumping newly acquired infielder Émilien Pitre up to Triple-A Syracuse.

The 23-year-old Pitre, who was picked up from the Rays in the Freddy Peralta trade, had hit .375/.386/.375 in 10 games for Double-A Binghamton, putting him at .316/.433/.439 overall in 98 games between High-A and Double-A this year. If Marcus Semien fails to bounce back, he could be a candidate to see time at second base for the Mets next year.

Infielder Émilien Pitre was one of the three prospects the Rays sent to the Mets in the Freddy Peralta trade.

The 23-year-old Pitre, a second-rounder in 2024, was hitting .308/.438/.447 with five homers and 32 steals between High-A and Double-A this year. He’s limited to second base and he’s probably not going to top out as much more than a 10-homer guy in the majors, but his ability to make contact and work walks is intriguing.

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Mets will receive outfielder Aidan Smith, right-hander Gary Gill Hill and second baseman Emilien Pitre from the Rays in exchange for Freddy Peralta.

Smith, 22, ranks as the 15th best prospect in the Rays’ system according to MLB Pipeline while Hill and Pitre rank 26th and 27th respectively. It’s not a bad return for a couple of months of Peralta and should help to replenish the Mets’ system.
