Eury Pérez has been diagnosed with a right gracilis strain and is expected to miss at least eight weeks.
Pérez underwent an MRI that revealed a strain in the thigh muscle in his right leg. The 23-year-old suffered the injury while stretching between innings during Wednesday’s start against the Blue Jays. It’s a brutal development for the Marlins and fantasy managers as the injury is likely to keep him sidelined until at least late July. It’s a bit unclear how Miami plans to fill his rotation spot as their starting pitching depth has suddenly become razor-thin after losing top prospects Robby Snelling (elbow) and Thomas White (shoulder) to injury.

Marlins placed RHP Eury Pérez on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 28, with a right hamstring strain.
The 23-year-old hurler suffered the injury during Wednesday’s start against the Blue Jays. No word yet from the team on how long they expect Pérez to be sidelined for. Josh Ekness was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville to provide a fresh bullpen arm for a few days until the Marlins decide how to fill Pérez’s spot in the rotation.

Eury Pérez (hamstring) will undergo imaging after being removed from Wednesday’s start against the Blue Jays.
Pérez will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of a hamstring spasm that led to his removal from Wednesday’s start against Toronto after four shutout innings where he struck out nine and allowed just three baserunners. There should be an update on the electrifying 23-year-old’s status at some point later this week. He’s tentatively scheduled to face the Nationals in a road tilt on Tuesday.

Eury Pérez exited Wednesday’s start against the Blue Jays due to a right hamstring spasm.
Pérez finished with four scoreless innings and nine strikeouts. The right-hander will likely need to undergo imaging, and his status going forward will largely be determined by those results. It’s always a bummer to see an injury, but especially considering how dominant Pérez had looked during Wednesday’s contest.

Eury Pérez left Wednesday’s start against the Blue Jays with an apparent injury.
Pérez appears to have injured himself while stretching between innings, and needed to be helped into the clubhouse. The right-hander was pitching exceptionally; striking out nine over four scoreless innings. Michael Peterson has taken over for Pérez. There should be an update on his status shortly.

Eury Pérez allowed one run on two hits with five strikeouts and zero walks across 6 1/3 innings in a 2-1 win over the Mets on Friday.
The magic elixir for struggling starting pitchers this season has often been facing this hapless Mets lineup. Juan Soto was literally the only player who could touch Pérez in this one, accounting for both of the hits he allowed. The first of which was a loud, 449 foot home run in the first inning and it underscored a lot of Pérez’s struggles so far this season. Without much confidence in his secondary pitches, he threw Soto five fastballs in that at-bat. Two of which he fouled straight back and the third straight with two strikes was parked in the stands. Nevertheless, no other hitter gave Pérez trouble and this was his first start all season where he didn’t walk a single batter. Also, he found a good feel for his sweeper as the game went on and finally displayed at least solid command of it. Hopefully this is an outing he can build on ahead of a meeting with the Blue Jays next week.

Eury Pérez struggled in a losing effort against the Rays on Sunday afternoon, surrendering five runs on five hits over five innings.
The right-hander struck out five batters in the ballgame while issuing four free passes. He served up solo homers to Junior Caminero in the first inning and Yandy Diaz in the fifth while allowing a three-run triple to Taylor Walls in the fourth inning. Pérez generated 10 whiffs on 102 pitches on the afternoon, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he brings an uninspiring 5.33 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 58/28 K/BB ratio into Friday’s matchup against the Mets.

Eury Pérez surrendered three runs in six innings and struck out eight Tuesday in a loss to the Marlins.
Pérez was fine, but he had no margin for error in a game in which the Marlins were shutout. All three runs off him came in the fifth. Byron Buxton stole home as the Marlins botched a play after Trevor Larnach took off for second with runners at the corners, and then Ryan Jeffers homered. In all, Pérez allowed just three hits and walked three. Still, he dropped to 2-5 with a 4.94 ERA. He’ll pitch in Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Eury Pérez surrendered a season-high five runs over five innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Orioles.
Pérez gave up four hits, including a three-run homer to old nemesis Pete Alonso in the opening frame. He finished with six strikeouts and issued five walks, which were his second-most this season. He’s allowed four earned runs or more in three of his eight starts so far and holds an underwhelming 5.01 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 45/21 K/BB ratio across 41 1/3 innings of work. He’ll aim for better results his next time out against the Twins in a road matchup on Tuesday.

Eury Pérez allowed two earned runs over five innings while striking out six in Friday’s loss to the Phillies.
Pérez held the Phillies scoreless through the first three innings and struck out the side in order in the third inning. In the fourth inning, he ran into a bit of trouble with runners on first and second with two outs. He would allow a single to Alec Bohm to give the Phillies their first run of the night, and surrendered an RBI double to Justin Crawford on the following at-bat to put the Phils up 2-1. He would return to pitch a scoreless fifth inning before being pulled for Cade Gibson to start the sixth inning. Pérez did a good job at limiting baserunners aside from his one bad inning and has allowed two earned runs or less in two of his last three starts. His next outing is scheduled for Wednesday against the Orioles.
