White Sox acquired OF Everson Pereira and 2B Tanner Murray from the Rays for RHP Steven Wilson and RHP Yoendrys Gómez.
Pereira is the type of low-risk gamble that a rebuilding franchise like the White Sox should be making since they can hand him significant playing time at the highest level to see whether he’ll reach his lofty ceiling. The 24-year-old former Yankees prospect got into only 23 games this past season for Tampa Bay and has batted just .146 (23-for-158) with two homers and six steals in 50 games in the big leagues since 2023.
  • TB Center Fielder #45
Rays placed OF Everson Pereira on the 10-day injured list with low back inflammation.
Pereira left last night’s game with the ailment. He had a solid .256/.359/.508 line in 78 games in Triple-A this season, but he hit just .138/.219/.246 with 28 strikeouts in 73 plate appearances after the Rays called him up. He’s at .146/.227/.215 in 176 plate appearances since debuting with the Yankees in 2023. He’s still just 24, but it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll stick on the Rays’ roster this winter.
  • TB Center Fielder #45
Everson Pereira came out of Thursday’s game with lower back tightness.
Tristan Gray replaced him, with Richie Palacios moving from second base to the outfield. Pereira, who has been hoping to work his way into the Rays’ plans for 2026, is hitting .138/.219/.246 with 28 strikeouts in 73 plate appearances.
  • TB Center Fielder #28
Jake Mangum is on the bench for Sunday’s showdown against the Guardians.
Mangum takes a seat with Everson Pereira getting an opportunity to face Cleveland rookie southpaw Parker Messick in this one. He’s getting a break after making six consecutive starts between center and right field.
  • TB Left Fielder #1
Rays activated OF Richie Palacios from the 60-day injured list.
Palacios has played in just one major league game this season after missing the start of the year with a fractured finger and the bulk of the remainder with knee issues. He should get quite a few starts against right-handers and maybe offer some value in AL-only leagues. Bob Seymour and Everson Pereira could lose at-bats to him.
  • TB Right Fielder #15
Josh Lowe (oblique) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Yankees.
It’s a positive sign that Lowe hasn’t required a trip to the injured list, but he’ll sit out his third straight contest on Tuesday night due to an ongoing right oblique issue. It’ll be Jake Mangum taking over in right field with Everson Pereira in center field against his former team on Tuesday night.
  • TB Right Fielder #15
Josh Lowe (oblique) is absent from the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Giants.
Lowe is expected to avoid a trip to the injured list, but he’ll sit out Sunday’s contest at Oracle Park after being scratched earlier this weekend due to right oblique tightness. It’ll be Jake Mangum moving over to right field with Everson Pereira taking over in center field. The 27-year-old outfielder is presumably day-to-day heading into Tuesday’s pivotal series opener against the Yankees.
  • TB Right Fielder #15
Jose Lowe was scratched from Saturday’s lineup against the Giants.
Lowe has been replaced by Everson Pereira in the lineup. No reason has been given for why Lowe won’t play, but there should be an update on his status shortly.
  • TB Center Fielder #80
Rays recalled OF Everson Pereira from Triple-A Durham.
The 24-year-old outfielder returns — exactly 10 days after he was optioned to Triple-A Durham — to provide outfield depth for the Rays. He’ll take the spot of Tristan Peters who was optioned back to Triple-A after going 0-for-9 with five strikeouts over the weekend.
  • TB Center Fielder #80
Rays optioned OF Everson Pereira to Triple-A Durham.
The 24-year-old outfielder was acquired from the Yankees in Thursday’s deadline deal that sent Jose Caballero to the Bombers. He’ll begin his Rays’ tenure at Triple-A Durham though it wouldn’t be surprising to see him break through and see some action at the Major League level before the season concludes.
