Cubs signed OF Forrest Wall to a minor league contract.
The 29-year-old outfielder opted out of his minor league deal with the Padres last weekend after slashing .298/.384/.429 with four homers, 39 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 279 plate appearances at Triple-A El Paso. He’ll report to Triple-A Iowa where he’ll add extra outfield depth for the Cubs.

Kiley McDaniel of ESPN reports that Forrest Wall has opted out of his minor league contract with the Padres.
Wall signed a minor league deal with the Padres back in March, and he wasn’t added to the 40-man roster so he’ll get a chance to find a homer for the final two months of the season. It’s hard to imagine his next contract won’t be a similar situation.
  • SD Left Fielder #26
Padres reassigned OF Forrest Wall and INF Niko Goodrum to minor league camp.
Neither Wall or Goodrum had a real shot at making San Diego’s season-opening roster, but they’re experienced emergency depth options at the Triple-A level.

Forrest Wall belted his second home run of spring action as the Padres fell to the Athletics on Thursday afternoon.
Wall greeted Jose LeClerc with a solo shot to lead off the third inning of this one, increasing the Padres’ early advantage to 2-0. He also bounced out to shortstop, finishing the afternoon 1-for-2. Given the Padres’ overall lack of depth in the outfield, Wall has a chance to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster with a strong showing in spring training — and starting off 5-for-10 (.500) with a pair of homers, four RBI and a stolen base is a great way to put himself in a position to do so.

Padres signed OF Forrest Wall to a minor league contract.
Wall gives San Diego some additional outfield depth entering spring training and is likely ticketed for Triple-A El Paso to open the year. The 29-year-old has gotten into 31 games at the big-league level over the past two seasons between the Braves and Marlins, batting .311/.380/.422 with one homer and nine steals in 50 plate appearances.
  • BAL Left Fielder #19
Orioles sent OF Forrest Wall outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Wall was designated for assignment and went unclaimed. The 28-year-old remains in the organization, but will need to be added to the 40-man roster in order to rejoin the major-league roster.
  • BAL Left Fielder #19
Orioles designated OF Forrest Wall for assignment.
Wall was just claimed by the Orioles on Wednesday, but Baltimore needs 40-man roster space for David Banuelos. Wall has been a frequent guest on the waiver wire, and will hit that list again.
  • BAL Left Fielder #19
Orioles claimed OF Forrest Wall off of waivers from the Marlins and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.
The 28-year-old outfielder was designated for assignment earlier in the week by the Marlins after taking just three at-bats with the club. The Orioles will become Wall’s third organization this season as he started with the Braves before he was designated for assignment just before the trade deadline.
  • MIA Left Fielder #19
Marlins designated OF Forrest Wall for assignment.
Wall got all of three at-bats for the Marlins after being claimed off waivers from the Braves last month. His stolen base ability, combined with a decent OBP and pretty good outfield defense, might lead to a contender wanting him as September 28th man. He’s hit .282/.380/.396 with 16 steals in Triple-A this year.
  • MIA Left Fielder #19
Marlins optioned OF Forrest Wall to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Wall loses his spot on Miami’s active roster with newly-acquired former top prospect Christian Pache joining the club. The 28-year-old was claimed off waivers last week from the Braves and got into just three games for the Marlins.
