Blue Jays signed OF Gabby Guerrero to a minor league contract.
The 26-year-old spent the 2019 season in the Marlins’ organization where he slashed .253/.270/.401 with 11 homers, 51 RBI and a jaw-dropping 104/7 K/BB ratio over 114 games between Double-A Jacksonville and Triple-A New Orleans. He’ll add depth in the minor leagues for the Jays.

Gabby Guerrero went 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBI against the Nationals on Monday.
Guerrero made his major league debut with the Reds last season, going 3-for-18 with a homer. He’s turned into a fine minor league slugger, but it still seems unlikely that he’ll make much of a contribution in the majors because of his OBP issues. He did pick the right team as a minor league free agent, though.

Marlins signed OF Gabby Guerrero to a minor league contract.
Guerrero was recently outrighted off the Reds 40-man roster, and he elected free agency. The nephew of Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero and cousin of top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has struggled with plate discipline and had a .500 OPS in 18 plate appearances during a cup of coffee with the Reds in 2018. He’ll likely spend the 2019 season with Triple-A New Orleans.

Reds sent OF Gabby Guerrero outright to Triple-A Louisville.
The 24-year-old outfielder is now off the Reds’ 40-man roster. Guerrero batted just .167 with a .500 OPS over his first 18 major league plate appearances in 2018.

Joey Votto is absent from the Reds’ lineup Sunday.
Tucker Barnhart is at first base and Curt Casali is at catcher. Billy Hamilton is also getting a breather in this one, with Gabby Guerrero handling center field.

Gabby Guerrero hit his first big-league homer Saturday as a pinch-hitter against the Marlins.
Vlad’s nephew flashed some power in Double-A this year (17 homers) after a couple of disappointing seasons in that regard. He still doesn’t figure to have much of a future in the majors, but he had a nice moment tonight.

Diamondbacks designated OF Gabby Guerrero for assignment.
The 22-year-old nephew of Vladimir Guerrero hasn’t developed as the club had hoped. He hit a disappointing .234/.281/.383 with nine homers and 54 RBI between Double-A Mobile and Triple-A Reno in 2016. He’s talented enough that another club may be willing to take a chance on him.
  • TOR Outfield #65
    Reds non-tendered OF Gabby Guerrero.
Guerrero, who is the nephew of former MLB star Vladimir Guerrero, was claimed off of waivers from the Diamondbacks last week and now finds himself as a free agent. He struggled with the bat in 2016, slashing .234/.281/.383 across two minor league levels, but possesses enough talent that he should find another club willing to give him a shot.

Reds claimed OF Gabby Guerrero off waivers from the Diamondbacks.
The nephew of Vladimir Guerrero, Gabby batted just .234/.281/.383 between Double- and Triple-A this past season. He’s had back-to-back disappointing seasons but will turn just 23 in a couple weeks. Obviously the Reds think he’s still got a shot to make an impact.

Reds re-signed OF Gabby Guerrero to a minor league contract.
The Reds non-tendered Guerrero after claiming him off waivers last month, but he’ll remain with the organization. Vlad’s nephew hit just .234/.281/.383 across two minor league levels in 2016.
