Grant Holmes wasn’t at his best in a no-decision against the Rockies on Friday night, surrendering six runs on seven hits over his five innings of work.
Holmes also issued three free passes in the contest while punching out four. The Rockies jumped on him for five runs in the opening inning and added on another as Mickey Moniak crushed a solo shot to open the second. Holmes dug in from there though, blanking the Rockies through the fifth inning and kept the Braves in the game — affording them the opportunity to come back. He got nine whiffs on 87 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 21 percent. He’ll try to get back in the win column as he carries a 4.34 ERA and 1.31 WHIP into Wednesday’s matchup against the Mariners in Seattle.

Grant Holmes allowed three earned runs over six innings while striking out for to pick up the win on Friday against the Phillies.
After making it through the first two innings unscathed, Holmes ran into trouble in the top of the third inning. After allowing a single to Garrett Stubbs, Holmes left a fastball just over the heart of the plate to Treat Turner, who sent it 394 feet into right center to put the Phillies up 2-0. Holmes would get through the fourth inning without allowing a run despite loading the bases with two outs, but gave up a solo homer to Bryce Harper in the fifth inning. Holmes continues to be solid for the Braves, allowing three earned runs or fewer in each of his six starts this season. His next start is scheduled for Thursday at home against the Tigers.

Grant Holmes yielded two runs in 4 2/3 innings Sunday against the Phillies.
One out away from being in line to win the game, Holmes was lifted before he could face Kyle Schwarber for a third time in the fifth. It was probably the right call, especially since Schwarber had homered off him already. Aaron Bummer took over and gave up a double, but it didn’t score Trea Turner from first, and Bummer retired Bryce Harper afterwards to keep the game 4-2. Holmes is 1-1 with a 3.42 ERA after five starts. He’s slated for another showdown with the Phillies on Friday.

Grant Holmes gave up with three runs over four innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Marlins.
Holmes was perfect through three frames before coming completely unraveled in the fourth inning as Miami got to him for three runs on three hits and a pair of walks. He finished with three strikeouts and two walks. He was lifted after just 59 pitches (34 strikes) in his shortest outing since last July. The 30-year-old righty holds a serviceable 3.32 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 17/10 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings over four starts. He’ll face a tough test his next time out with a road tilt against the red-hot Phillies on Sunday night.

Grant Holmes allowed five hits and two runs with three walks and six strikeouts across 6 2/3 innings in an 8-2 win over the Angels on Wednesday.
Things got off to a rocky start for Holmes here. Jorge Soler took him deep in the second inning and then he allowed the next four batters to reach base in the form of one single and three walks. Yet, he worked out of that jam with only two total runs on the board and shut the Angels down from that point forward. Mostly a two-pitch pitcher, he found the command of his fastball after that near-disasterous second inning and played his nasty slider off it well. This is now consecutive starts where Holmes has completed at least six innings and will look to keep the good times rolling in his next scheduled start against the Marlins.

Grant Holmes was outstanding in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Friday night, punching out four batters over six scoreless frames.
The 30-year-old hurler allowed just one hit on the night — a one-out single by Ketel Marte in the sixth inning — while also issuing three free passes. He traded zeroes with Diamondbacks’ left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez through six innings and both starters ended up with no-decisions. Holmes racked up 14 swings and misses on 85 offerings on the night — nine on his slider — while posting a strong CSW of 36 percent. He’ll carry an excellent 2.45 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and an 8/5 K/BB ratio (11 innings) into Wednesday’s showdown against the Angels in Los Angeles.

Grant Holmes yielded three runs in five innings to take a loss to the Royals on Sunday.
Holmes gave up just two hard-hit balls, a single and a Carter Jensen homer, but he allowed three more hits on softer contact. He struck out four and walked two. This is probably what the Braves will typically get from Holmes in the rotation. It’ll be enough to keep them in games with their strong offense, but he’s not likely to be a mixed-league guy.

Grant Holmes allowed two runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings against the Rays on Tuesday.
Holmes struck out four and walked three while throwing 60 percent of his pitches for strikes and posting a 23.6 percent whiff rate. Holmes’ four-seam fastball averaged 95.6 mph in the first inning and was down to 92.3 mph by the fifth inning, which is something to consider for early-season starts. He was at 78 pitches in this one, but clearly fatigued as the game went on, and also gave up a decent amount of hard contact with a 93.1 mph average exit velocity allowed. Given the arm injury that ended his 2025 season, Holmes feels like a risky bet in fantasy leagues this year.

Grant Holmes was untouchable during Thursday’s Grapefruit League start against the Pirates, allowing just one walk while racking up nine strikeouts over five shutout innings.
Holmes outdueled Pirates’ right-hander Bubba Chandler in this one, with the only baserunner against him coming on a one-out walk to Ryan O’Hearn in the opening inning. The 29-year-old hurler got better as the game went on too, striking out five of the final six batters that he faced. He generated a whopping 18 swings and misses on 64 pitches in the ballgame — 13 of those on his slider — while posting an elite CSW of 42 percent. You can take spring training stats with a grain of salt, but Holmes has been among the most dominant hurlers in all of baseball, firing 12 1/3 scoreless innings with a 0.73 WHIP and a 16/6 K/BB ratio. It would seem he has locked up a spot in the Braves’ Opening Day rotation.

Grant Holmes worked 2 2/3 hitless innings versus an Orioles split-squad Saturday.
Holmes walked three and gave up a couple of hits, but Shay Shanaman was able to strand the bases loaded after replacing him with two outs in the second. Holmes then came back out for a scoreless third. Holmes fastball today was up 0.5 mph from last outing against the Twins, leaving him 0.7 mph shy of his 2025 average. So, he’s trending the right way.
