Grayson Rodriguez (back) is expected to return to the Angels and start Friday’s game against the Twins.

Rodriguez looked sharp in his most recent rehab start; firing 5 1/3 innings of one-run baseball for Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. The Angels have already optioned Sam Aldegheri, who was previously scheduled to start that contest, to the minors. So assuming no setbacks for Rodriguez, it should be the 26-year-old on the bump for that contest.

Grayson Rodriguez (back) allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Rodriguez threw 78 pitches while allowing four hits, one walk and striking out five. The right-hander’s next steps will be determined in part by how he feels after this outing, but it sounds like he’ll be ready to roll after the All-Star break, at the latest.

Grayson Rodriguez (back) allowed one run in four innings in a rehab start for Low-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

Rodriguez allowed five hits and a walk and struck out four. The right-hander will assuredly need at least one more rehab outing before coming back, but assuming all checked out well Sunday and there’s no setbacks after that next outing, he could be back with the Angels around the All-Star break.

Grayson Rodriguez, who is on the injured list with back inflammation, is set to make a rehab start on Sunday.

That’s day 13 of his required 15 on the IL. Barring a setback, he’ll probably return to the rotation next weekend against the Red Sox.

Angels placed RHP Grayson Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list with lower back inflammation.

Rodriguez lands on the shelf for the second time this season after exiting Sunday’s start against the Rays with lower back tightness. He missed time at the outset of the year due to a shoulder issue. The biggest concern here is that back issues are complex matters and typically lead to extended absences for pitchers. The 26-year-old has struggled to a bloated 8.06 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 24/15 K/BB ratio across 25 2/3 innings over six starts in his Angels debut after missing all of last season due to injury. There’s zero reason for fantasy managers in re-draft formats to hang onto Rodriguez at this juncture.

Grayson Rodriguez exited Sunday’s start against the Rays with lower back tightness.

Rodriguez was grimacing after firing a pitch that hit Cedric Mullins in the third inning before exiting with a trainer. The Angels will all but assuredly need Rodriguez to undergo imaging to determine if there’s anything structurally wrong with the 26-year-old, but either way, there’s no guarantee he’ll be able to make his next scheduled start next weekend.

Grayson Rodriguez left Sunday’s start against the Rays with an apparent injury.

Rodriguez was in clear pain after hitting Cedric Mullins with a pitch, and exited with a trainer. He’ll likely undergo imaging before determining the severity of the injury. Rodriguez has really struggled in his first year with the Angels, and unfortunately, injuries have been a significant story in his MLB career.

Grayson Rodriguez yielded three runs — two earned — in 5 1/3 innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Astros.

Rodriguez became the first pitcher this year to allow six doubles in a game. It was seven at one point, but Yordan Alvarez’s fly to deep center that Mike Trout should have caught was correctly changed to an error. In all, he gave up 10 hard-hit balls and had an average EV against of 94 mph tonight. The last three doubles came in a four-batter span in the sixth, forcing his removal. His ERA stands at 8.10, and he’s not to be trusted in mixed leagues right now, even if he might be later. He’ll face the Rays on Sunday.

Grayson Rodriguez allowed eight runs and struck out three batters in a loss against the Rockies on Tuesday.

Rodriguez tossed a clean first inning, then ran into some trouble in the second. Hunter Goodman took him deep for a leadoff homer. The Rockies brought two more runs home on two hits and two walks before Rodriguez could escape the inning. After a scoreless third inning, the Rockies got to Rodriguez again for five more runs in the fourth, including three on a home run by Willi Castro. His day would be done with two outs in the inning at 91 pitches. He struck out three. The 26-year-old left-hander will carry a 10.00 ERA, 1.94 WHIP, and a 17/11 K/BB ratio across 18 innings into a start against the Astros in Anaheim on Monday.

Grayson Rodriguez held the Tigers to one run over five innings Thursday to win for the second time in three starts since coming off the IL.

This one was more deserved than the last, in which he gave up four runs over five innings last Friday against the Rangers. Rodriguez allowed two hits, walked two and struck out five today. The lone run came on a wind-aided homer from Wenceel Pérez. Rodriguez has a 7.53 ERA since making his season debut earlier this month, but each outing has been better than the last. He makes for a quality streaming option next week in a home start against the Rockies.
