Gunnar Hoglund underwent season-ending left hip surgery earlier this week.
Hoglund figures to be ready for the start of spring training after undergoing surgery to address a labrum tear in his left hip. It’s his second hip surgery in the last calendar year. The 26-year-old hit the injured list with a knee sprain back in early April and hasn’t pitched for the Athletics since last May.

Athletics transferred RHP Gunnar Hoglund from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Hoglund will be out now until at least the end of May while he recovers from his right knee sprain. The move opens a spot on the 40-man roster for Joel Kuhnel, and Kuhnel’s contract was selected in a corresponding transaction.

Athletics placed RHP Gunnar Hoglund on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to March 22, with a right knee sprain.
Hoglund missed time earlier in camp with a back issue after ending last year on the injured list with a knee sprain. The 26-year-old righty will likely head to Triple-A Las Vegas once he completes a rehab assignment.

Gunnar Hoglund is dealing with a back issue that will delay the start to his season.
The 26-year-old hasn’t pitched at all in Spring Training. It’s likely he’ll need to get ramped up before he’s ready to pitch in any role in the bigs, and he finished the 2025 season on IL with a hip impingement that required surgery. Hoglund stocks are cheap in 16-team AL dynasty leagues.

Gunnar Hoglund has been diagnosed with a knee sprain.
Hoglund will resume a throwing program after doctors recommended rest and rehabilitation instead of a surgical procedure. The 26-year-old missed the final couple months of last season after undergoing hip surgery.

Athletics transferred RHP Gunnar Hoglund to the 60-day injured list.
It’s merely a procedural move as Hoglund is expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing hip surgery last week.

Gunnar Hoglund will likely miss the rest of the 2025 season after undergoing hip surgery on Friday.
Hoglund was diagnosed with a hip impingement, and he won’t be an option for the A’s for the remainder of the 2025 campaign. He ends his rookie season with a 6.40 ERA over 32 1/3 innings accrued over six starts. He could be an option at the back of the A’s rotation in 2026.

Athletics placed RHP Gunnar Hoglund on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 1, with a left hip impingement.
Hoglund heads to the injured list after coughing up four homers and getting torched for eight runs over six innings on Saturday against Toronto. The 25-year-old rookie has compiled a bloated 6.40 ERA over 32 1/3 innings (six starts) this season at the big-league level. It’ll likely be Osvaldo Bido taking his spot in the Athletics’ rotation.

Gunnar Hoglund was lit up for four homers and eight runs in six innings Saturday against the Blue jays.
The A’s needed innings today, so Hoglund went six even after giving up four runs in the first and single runs in four of the subsequent five frames. He threw only 93 pitches, so that wasn’t an issue. Hoglund pitched well in his first two big-league starts, but he’s allowed 20 runs and eight homers over 21 innings in his four outings. The A’s could have Osvaldo Bido replace him in the rotation.

Gunnar Hoglund wasn’t at his best in a no-decision against the Phillies on Sunday afternoon, surrendering three runs on four hits over his five innings of work.
The rookie right-hander also issued three walks on the afternoon while striking out a pair. The Phillies scratched out a run in the second inning as J.T. Realmuto bounced into a double play with the bases loaded. Trea Turner then delivered an RBI single in the third inning and plated another with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Hoglund got just four whiffs in 92 pitches on the afternoon, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 21 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he carries a 5.13 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 22/9 K/BB ratio (26 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
