Tigers selected the contracts of C Thayron Liranzo, 2B Hao-Yu Lee, Trei Cruz, Eduardo Valencia and Jake Miller from Triple-A Toledo.
Among the top prospects in Detroit’s system entering next season, Liranzo and Lee aren’t quite ready to reach the big leagues, but they have a chance to make an impact for fantasy managers at relatively shallow position groups down the road.
  • DET 2nd Baseman
Tigers INF prospect Hao-Yu Lee went 2-for-3 with two walks, three runs scored, and four steals for Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a strong month of May before struggling a bit in June. Still, he’s been solid on the year, slashing .246/.349/.413 with nine home runs, 48 runs scored, and 15 steals in 76 games. Lee can play both second and third base and is putting himself on the map as a potential replacement for Gleyber Torres in 2026.
  • DET 2nd Baseman
Hao-Yu Lee went 4-for-6 with a triple and a double for Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.
The four hits ranged from 101.1 to 110.5 mph off the bat. Lee, 22, is batting .257/.345/.398 with three homers and five steals in his first Triple-A stint, and the Tigers have him splitting time evenly between second and third. He’s probably not going to help the major league club this year, but he could be a factor in 2026, especially if Jace Jung continues to have issues.
  • DET 2nd Baseman
Tigers INF prospect Hao-Yu Lee went 4-for-6 with a home run, three RBI, three runs scored, and a steal for Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
Lee was a breakout star in spring training and has gotten off to a slow-ish start in Triple-A. However, he’s been hitting in the middle of the lineup every day and slashing .255/.349/.400 with one home run, nine RBI, and two steals. He has also been playing some third base recently, and his numbers are better than Jace Jung’s at Triple-A, so it’s not out of the question that Lee could get a shot to fill any infield vacancy in Detroit this summer.

Tigers reassigned C Thayron Liranzo and 2B Hao-Yu Lee to minor league camp.
Among the top prospects in Detroit’s system, Liranzo and Lee are still a hyperspace jump away from the big leagues, but they’re going to make an impact for fantasy managers at relatively shallow position groups. Liranzo is the name to watch in dynasty leagues after taking home Arizona Fall League MVP honors a couple months ago. He came over last August from the Dodgers in the Jack Flaherty trade, which is looking like an extremely savvy swap by Detroit’s front office.
  • DET 2nd Baseman
The Athletic’s Cody Stavenhagen said that INF Hao-Yu Lee is “the darling of camp” for the Detroit Tigers so far.
The Tigers acquired Hao-Yu Lee from the Phillies in a trade for Michael Lorenzen back in 2023. In 2024, Lee hit .298/.363/.488 with 12 home runs and 16 steals in 87 games across High-A and Double-A. Stavenhagen mentions that Lee is almost assuredly going to start the year at Triple-A, but many people believe he could be a plus defender at second base and has looked better than Jace Jung at third base this spring. While he shouldn’t be drafted in redraft leagues, Stavenhagen believes Lee could be playing third base for the Tigers by the end of the 2025 season.
  • DET 2nd Baseman
Tigers acquired INF Hao-Yu Lee from the Phillies for RHP Michael Lorenzen.
Lee, 20, has hit .283/.372/.401 while playing mostly second base in high-A this year. He’s not a particularly high ceiling prospect, but he has a chance to be a well-rounder starter at second. He’s probably two to three years away.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #21
Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports the Phillies are close to acquiring right-hander Michael Lorenzen from the Tigers.
The deal has been agreed to, and 20-year-old infielder Hao-Yu Lee will be the return, several reporters have confirmed. Lorenzen will bolster Philadelphia’s starting rotation after posting a strong 3.58 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 83/27 K/BB ratio across 105 2/3 innings (18 starts) this season for the Tigers. The Phillies will likely use six starters for the near future.
