    Red Sox optioned LHP Jake Bennett to minor league camp.
    Bennett, who the Red Sox acquired from the Nationals for Luis Perales this offseason, made two spring training appearances, allowing three runs on five hits in three innings while striking out three. The 6'6" left-handed pitcher also flashed upper 90s velocity on his fastball while topping out at 98 mph, which is a significant increase from what he had shown with the Nationals. He also debuted a cutter that pounded the strike zone against righties. He could be a fast-rising prospect for the Red Sox this season. Boston also reassigned catchers Nate Baez and Ronald Rosario, RHPs Osvaldo Berrios, Hobie Harris, Vinny Nittoli, and Devin Sweet, and LHP Jeremy Wu-Yelland to minor league camp.

    Red Sox re-signed RHP Hobie Harris to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
    Harris will compete for a spot in Boston’s season-opening bullpen next spring after posting a respectable 4.15 ERA across 39 innings (31 appearances) this season for Triple-A Worcester. The 32-year-old righty last appeared in the big leagues during the 2023 campaign when he made 16 relief appearances for the Nationals.

    Red Sox selected RHP Hobie Harris from the Mets in the MiLB Rule 5 Draft.
    Harris signed a minor league pact last month with the Mets and will head to Boston as extra organizational relief depth after being picked in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 Draft. The 31-year-old righty, who made 16 relief appearances for the Nationals during the 2023 season, struggled to a lackluster 6.79 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 62/31 K/BB ratio over 54 1/3 innings (44 appearances) last year at Triple-A St. Paul in the Twins’ system.

    The 31-year-old hurler spent the entire 2024 campaign in the Twins’ organization where he struggled to a 6.79 ERA. 1.84 WHIP and a 62/31 K/BB ratio over 54 1/3 innings of work. He’ll add bullpen depth for the Mets in the upper levels of the minor leagues.

    The 30-year-old right-hander got his first taste of big league action with the Nationals in 2023 — posting a 5.12 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and a 9/13 K/BB ratio over 19 1/3 innings in his 16 appearances. He’ll need a strong showing in the spring to crack the Twins’ Opening Day bullpen.

    Harris finished the season at Triple-A Rochester and will now be a minor league free agent at the conclusion of the Fall Classic after being removed from Washington’s 40-man roster. The 30-year-old righty posted a pedestrian 5.12 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 9/13 K/BB ratio across 19 1/3 innings (16 appearances) this season in his first taste of the majors.

    He’s getting bumped to make room for Robert Garcia, who was claimed off waivers from the Marlins yesterday. Harris was called up on Monday and pitched a scoreless inning last night. The 30-year-old rookie has a 5.12 ERA in 16 appearances on the season.

The 30-year-old rookie right-hander posted a respectable 5.40 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 9/12 K/BB ratio across 18 1/3 innings (15 appearances) prior to being optioned to the minors in late May.
