Jack Kochanowicz will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery.
Kochanowicz is likely to miss a significant portion of next season given the timing of the procedure, which typically carries a 12-18 month return timeline. The 25-year-old starter hit the injured list with elbow inflammation over the weekend. It’s a definite hit to Los Angeles’ rotation depth, but he was a non-factor for fantasy purposes this season with a bloated 6.19 ERA across 64 innings over 13 starts.

Angels placed RHP Jack Kochanowicz on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.
Kochanowicz suffered the injury during Saturday’s disastrous outing against the Dodgers where he gave up seven runs (six earned) in just 1/3 of an inning. No word yet on how long he’ll be shelved for. Sam Aldegheri was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move on Sunday.

Jack Kochanowicz allowed seven runs -- six earned -- while recording just one out in a loss against the Dodgers on Saturday.
Kochanowicz didn’t last long in this one. The Dodgers were all over him in the first inning, starting with a two-run homer by Andy Pages. Three straight hits loaded the bases for Ryan Ward, who doubled to drive in two more runs. Kochanowicz finally recorded his first out, then walked a batter to load the bases again. That would be it for him as Brent Suter entered in relief. All three inherited runners would come in to score as the Dodgers totalled nine runs in the first. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 6.05 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, and a 47/36 K/BB ratio across 64 innings. He’ll take on the Rays in Anaheim on Friday.

Jack Kochanowicz took the loss on Sunday in Tampa Bay, allowing three runs on five hits over 2 1/3 frames.
Kochanowicz allowed four free passes while striking out one, raising his ERA to 5.23 on the season. Angels beat writer Jeff Fletcher notes that the righty had a 3.05 ERA through his first seven starts but now has a 9.27 mark over his past five. He’s one to avoid in fantasy in his next appearance, which is scheduled to come on the road against the Dodgers.

Jack Kochanowicz allowed five runs in four innings and got a no-decision in the Angels’ 10-6 victory over the Tigers on Tuesday.
Kochanowicz gave up six hits, walked two and struck out six. His worst inning was the fifth inning. Kochanowicz allowed a single and a walk ahead of a triple to Kevin McGonigle, who also scored after Kochanowicz was removed. His ERA is 4.99, keeping him off the fantasy radar in most leagues. Kochanowicz is lined up to face the Rays on the road on Sunday.

Jack Kochanowicz allowed three runs through six innings and fanned seven against the A’s on Wednesday.
Kochanowicz struggled early in this one, but he’d retired 13 in a row when he was taken out with a two-run lead after 94 pitches. The bullpen let that lead slip away over the next three innings, so Kochanowicz remains 2-3 with a 4.55 ERA through 10 starts. He’s shown considerable improvement from last season, but he’s clearly not a mixed-league option right now. He’s due to face the Tigers next week.

Jack Kochanowicz was tagged for six runs and three homers over six innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Friday.
Kochanowicz gave up two homers and four runs in the fourth, but the Angels wanted more innings from him tonight and got him through the sixth at a cost of two more runs. It was probably the right strategy, as the offense never showed any sign of taking advantage of a bullpen game from the Dodgers staff. Kochanowicz fell to 2-3 with a 4.56 ERA ahead of a start next week against the A’s.

Jack Kochanowicz surrendered seven runs -- six earned -- with no strikeouts over four innings in a loss against the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Kochanowicz stranded four runners across three scoreless innings before the Blue Jays got on the board with one run in the fourth. Toronto completely broke through in the fifth, tagging Kochanowicz for six more runs, five earned, knocking him from the game before recording an out in the inning. The 25-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.97 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 30/23 K/BB ratio across 45 1/3 innings. He’ll look to bounce back in a tough matchup against the Dodgers in Anaheim on Friday.

Jack Kochanowicz took his first loss after allowing two runs in 6 1/3 innings Sunday against the Mets.
It’s still another quality start for the 24-year-old. He’s already matched his 2025 total of four quality starts in 16 fewer tries (seven versus 23), and two of his three misses this year have seen him pulled just one out short of qualifying. Kochanowicz still doesn’t inspire much confidence as a fantasy starter, but his emergence has been huge for the Angels. He’ll take a 2-1 record and a 3.05 ERA into his next start against the Blue Jays.

Jack Kochanowicz yielded three runs — two earned — in six-plus innings Monday in a no-decision versus the White Sox.
Kochanowicz departed with a 5-1 lead in the seventh, but that went away as soon as the Angels bullpen got involved. Still, it was a nice outing for the lefty, who struck out five and walked one. Last year, he had four quality starts in 23 tries. This year, he already has three and two others in which he was pulled just one out shy of qualifying. He’s still not recommended in mixed leagues, but he’s definitely an improved pitcher. He’ll likely face the Mets on Sunday.
