Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Nationals are finalizing a deal to acquire first baseman Nathaniel Lowe from the Rangers.
The Rangers will receive left-handed reliever Robert Garcia in the return package. Lowe, 29, should represent a major upgrade in production for the Nationals after slashing .265/.361/.401 with 16 homers and 69 RBI for the Rangers during the 2024 campaign. The Rangers seem likely to let new acquisition Jake Burger function as their regular first baseman now that room has been cleared for him.

Rangers acquired 1B-3B Jake Burger from the Marlins for INF Echedry Vargas, INF Max Acosta and LHP Brayan Mendoza.
This definitely lengthens the Rangers’ lineup, giving the team another 30-homer threat and one making essentially the major league minimum for one more year. Burger is 28 and it’s certainly questionable how well he’ll age, but at this price, it looks like a great move for Texas. It also adds a great deal to Burger’s fantasy value. At the moment, it’d seem to take Josh Smith out of the Rangers’ projected lineup, but he’ll still get plenty of time as a utilityman. There’s some chance the Rangers could opt to trade Nathaniel Lowe, who is due close to $10 million in arbitration.

The Rangers are acquiring Jake Burger from the Marlins for prospects Max Acosta, Brayan Mendoza and Echedry Vargas, according to multiple reports.
The Marlins are obviously content to remain a joke franchise for another season. The Rangers, on the other hand, are upgrading from their Silver Slugger utilityman at DH by acquiring Burger to play over Josh Smith. Of course, Smith will still get time at other spots. Burger, though, is a nice upgrade for the middle of the lineup and should get quite a fantasy boost while playing in an MLB-quality offense. The Marlins are getting a couple of solid middle infield prospects in Acosta and Vargas, though neither is any kind of lock to turn into a regular. Mendoza, a 20-year-old lefty, is a potential bullpen arm. Burger’s exit from Miami would seem to increase the chances of Deyvison De Los Santos landing a starting job.

Jake Burger went 2-for-3 with a double, run scored, and RBI in a 4-3 win over the Braves on Friday.
Burger got the party started with a frozen rope that bounced over the wall for a ground-rule double and came around to score on a sacrifice fly later that inning. He and the rest of the Marlins’ lineup made it tough on Charlie Morton all night and did just enough to preserve their lead. While he’s cooled off a bit of late after his red-hot summer, Burger is on the precipice of his second straight 30 home run season.

Jake Burger went 3-for-4 against the Nationals on Thursday.
Burger was 16-for-89 (.180) in his last 23 games entering play Thursday. Maybe the three-hit effort will spark another hot streak for the 28-year-old infielder. Burger has provided a good amount of power this year. He’s hitting .244 with 25 home runs and 61 RBI on the season.

Jake Burger delivered a combo meal in Wednesday’s loss to the Diamondbacks, crushing a two-run homer and swiping his first base of the season.
The 28-year-old slugger opened the scoring for the Marlins with a 397-foot two-run blast off of Jordan Montgomery in the home half of the first inning. He was hit by a pitch with two outs in the sixth inning and swiped second base, but the Marlins couldn’t cash him in from there. He was also walked intentionally in the contest. Burger finished the night 1-for-3 officially and is now hitting .249/.302/.478 with 25 homers and 57 RBI on the season.

Jake Burger walloped his 24th home run of the season on Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Marlins to victory over the Mets.
The 28-year-old slugger tagged Mets’ left-hander Sean Manaea for his 390-foot (104.2-mph EV) solo shot in the fifth inning. That would be his lone hit in four at-bast on the night. Burger has been flame-broiled over the past few weeks, smashing 11 home runs in his last 16 games. For the season, he’s slashing .253/.304/.480 to go along with the aforementioned 24 long balls and 55 RBI.

Jake Burger went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in a win over the Phillies on Tuesday.
Burger took Taijuan Walker deep 405 feet at 107.5 mph for his 23rd home run on the season and his 13th in just 24 games since the All-Star break. We’ve seen Burger cooking before, but this is an otherworldly hot streak. He needs to be in all lineups until long after he cools off.

Jake Burger went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored in a win over the Padres on Sunday.
Burger now has 22 home runs and 53 RBI on the season and has been on a tear since July 1st, clubbing 14 home runs and driving in 24 runs in 33 games. He’s also 16-for-44 (.363) with seven home runs in just 11 games in August. He needs to be rostered in all leagues while his bat is this hot.

Jake Burger went 2-for-4 with a solo home run on Friday against the Padres.
Burger is on a heater right now. All three balls he put in play were hit at least 101.5 MPH and his 13 home runs since July 1st is tied with Brent Rooker for most in the major leagues over that stretch. Don’t let the hapless Marlins make you ignore one of the hottest hitters in baseball.
