Jake Meyers is absent from the Astros’ starting lineup for Thursday’s tilt against the Pirates.
The 29-year-old outfielder had started each of the team’s previous five games in center field. Taylor Trammell will slide over and cover center field on Thursday evening while LaMonte Wade Jr. draws a start in left field and will bat fifth against Pirates’ right-hander Jared Jones.

Astros activated OF Jake Meyers from the 10-day injured list.
Meyers is back in center field and hitting seventh on Tuesday against the Twins after missing more than five weeks with a right oblique strain. The 29-year-old outfielder was hitting .243/.326/.378 with one homer and one steal in 12 games prior to hitting the injured list on April 9.

Jake Meyers (oblique) on Tuesday in a minor league rehab game for Double-A Corpus Christi.
Meyers played the entire game in center field as he kicked off a rehab assignment in the upper minors. The 29-year-old center fielder is working his way back from a hamstring strain that sent him to the injured list back in early April.

Astros placed OF Jake Meyers on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 9, with a Grade 1 right oblique strain.
The Astros initially thought that Meyers was dealing with a back issue, but it turns out that it’s the dreaded oblique instead. He’ll need at least a couple of weeks on the shelf before he’s able to return to live game action. Taylor Trammell was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move on Friday.

Jake Meyers will undergo an MRI after exiting Wednesday’s game against the Rockies with lower back tightness.
It sounds like a trip to the injured list is on the table for Meyers after dealing with a back issue during spring training. There should be a definitive update on his status at some point in the near future. An extended absence would pave the way for Joey Loperfido in center field with Brice Matthews seeing more time in left field.

Jake Meyers was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Rockies with lower back tightness.
Meyers was lifted from the contest following an awkward-looking check swing during his first at-bat of the contest. The 29-year-old dealt with a back issue during spring training so it’s possible he’ll require a trip to the injured list to put the issue to bed. The injuries are starting to pile up for the Astros at this point. An extended absence from Meyers would likely result in Joey Loperfido handling center field on an everyday basis with Brice Matthews getting more time in left field.

Jake Meyers (back) is hitting sixth and playing centerfield against the Nationals on Monday.
Meyers was scratched from Friday’s bout with back spasms, but the 29-year-old is ready to roll for the spring showdown, and should be just fine for the regular season.

Astros manager Joe Espada said Jake Meyers (back) will go though a full workout this weekend and could return to the lineup early next week.
It doesn’t sound like the Astros are overly concerned after Meyers was scratched from Friday’s Grapefruit League contest with back spasms. The 29-year-old center fielder should be up and running again early next week.

Astros signed OF Jake Meyers to a one-year, $3.55 million deal to avoid arbitration.
Meyers had been the target of trade interest at the beginning of the season with the Astros looking to bolster their rotation. After signing Tatsuya Imai to a three-year deal, the Astros may keep Meyers as their starting center fielder in 2025. After hitting .292/.354/.373 with 16 steals in 104 games, Meyers should be on fantasy radars in most formats.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Katie Woo reported that Astros OF Jake Meyers is drawing trade interest around the league.
The Astros are reportedly open to moving Meyers for a controllable starting pitcher, and there may be some interest after Meyers hit .292/.354/.373 in 104 games with 16 steals while playing elite defense in center field. The Astros also have Jacob Melton and Zach Cole waiting in the wings in the minors and capable of filling Meyers’ spot if the Astros can acquire a good starter for him.
