Brewers re-signed RHP Jake Woodford to a minor league contract.
Woodford is back with Milwaukee after spending a few hours on the open market. The well-traveled 29-year-old posted a serviceable 6.94 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 20/7 K/BB ratio across 23 1/3 innings with the Brewers before being designated for assignment last Friday.

Brewers RHP Jake Woodford elected free agency.
Woodford hits the free agent pool after passing through waivers unclaimed following his removal from Milwaukee’s roster mix. The 29-year-old journeyman posted an underwhelming 6.94 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 20/7 K/BB ratio across 23 1/3 innings during his time with the Brewers. He should be able to latch on somewhere else as emergency relief depth.

Brewers designated RHP Jake Woodford for assignment.
The Brewers needed to free up a spot on their roster on Friday and unfortunately for the 29-year-old hurler, he wound up on the outside looking in. Woodford made 16 appearances during his time with the Brewers, posting a disappointing 6.94 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and a 20/7 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 innings. While good pitching depth is hard to come by, there’s a chance that he could slide through waivers unclaimed.

Brewers acquired RHP Jake Woodford from the Rays for RHP prospect K.C. Hunt.
Woodford was with the Rays as a non-roster invitee to spring training and did not make the Opening Day roster, so the Brewers swooped in before he was released. Woodford has some experience as a starter, but he made 22 appearances out of the bullpen for the Cardinals in 2025. He has a career 5.10 ERA in 256 MLB innings, so he could just be some healthy insurance for a Brewers staff that is dealing with a few injuries.

Rays signed RHP Jake Woodford to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Woodford had a rough season with the Diamondbacks in 2025, posting a 6.44 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and a 23/13 K/BB ratio across 36 1/3 innings. Given their history, if the Rays are taking a flier on him, there’s a decent chance that he winds up being a viable bullpen arm for them at some point during the 2026 season.

Diamondbacks RHP Jake Woodford elected free agency.
Woodford heads to the open market after being removed from Arizona’s relied mix during the final week of the regular season. The 28-year-old posted a lackluster 6.44 ERA across 36 1/3 innings over 22 appearances for the Diamondbacks.

Diamondbacks sent RHP Jake Woodford outright to Triple-A Reno.
Woodford figures to elect free agency and get a head start on the offseason after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 28-year-old righty posted an underwhelming 6.44 ERA across 36 1/3 innings over 22 appearances for the Diamondbacks before being designated for assignment over the weekend.

Jake Woodford finished off a 2-0 win with a hitless ninth Wednesday against the Rangers.
With Kyle Backhaus warming up behind him, Woodford retired three out of four batters for his third save in the last two weeks. He’s clearly the top right-hander in the Arizona pen right now, but Ryan Thompson has a good chance of overtaking him in the near future.

Kyle Backhus and Jake Woodford combined to blow a two-run lead in the ninth Monday against the Rangers.
Backhus gave up a single and an RBI triple before Woodford came in and allowed the game-tying hit to Cody Freeman. The D-backs have no closer at the moment, but Ryan Thompson, who pitched a scoreless seventh tonight in his return from the IL, should prove to be their best reliever. If anyone in the Arizona pen is worth rostering, it’s him.
