Jarlin Susana underwent surgery on his right lat last week, the Nationals revealed.
Susana’s injury was described as a strain, so it’s surprising that he required surgery. One of the game’s most talented pitching prospects, Susana ends the year with a 3.51 ERA and a 95/34 K/BB in 56 1/3 innings, most of them coming in Double-A. He also missed time early this season with a UCL sprain.

Nationals prospect Jarlin Susana was diagnosed with a lat strain after undergoing an MRI.
He’s likely done for the season, but that’s not official. It still seems like good news, given that the injury was originally described as triceps soreness. Susana has already missed time with a sprained UCL earlier this season.

Nationals RHP prospect Jarlin Susana has been diagnosed with triceps soreness.
Susana will continue to undergo further evaluation and testing following an early exit from Saturday’s outing at Double-A Harrisburg. The 21-year-old flamethrower has re-emerged as one of the most electric pitching prospects in the dynasty landscape over the last month after missing time earlier this season with a UCL sprain in his elbow. He’s likely going to be done for the season and fantasy managers can only hope that he’s ready to roll for spring training. He has a legitimate chance to break camp in Washington’s rotation.

Nationals RHP prospect Jarlin Susana recorded 13 strikeouts and allowed one run over five innings.
Susana’s dynasty stock took a hit earlier this year as he continued to battle control issues and missed time with a UCL sprain. The hard-throwing 21-year-old prospect has flashed top-of-the-rotation upside at times, but he needs to refine his command to reach that potential. It’s outings like this where he’s touching 103 mph and generating 20 swinging strikes that make you forget about the flaws and dream on what he might become someday.

Nationals RHP prospect Jarlin Susana has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 UCL sprain and will be shut down from throwing for two weeks.
Nationals manager Dave Martinez called it a “best-case scenario” when speaking to reporters on Sunday. There won’t be a definitive update concerning Susana’s long-term outlook until he resumes throwing in a couple weeks. The hard-throwing 21-year-old righty is right there with Travis Sykora as the top pitching prospect in Washington’s system. It’s an encouraging update, but there’s still reason for dynasty managers to closely monitor his status in the coming weeks.

Nationals RHP prospect Jarlin Susana was placed on the injured list at Double-A Harrisburg.
Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters Saturday that Susana is dealing with an arm injury, but didn’t disclose any additional information. The 21-year-old righty boasts immense strikeout potential and is generally regarded as one of the higher-ceiling pitching prospects in the fantasy landscape. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days.

Nationals reassigned RHPs Daison Acosta, Marquis Grissom, Jack Sinclair, Tyler Stuart and Jarlin Susana, and C Caleb Lomavita and Max Romero to minor league camp.
Susana is the Nationals’ 13th-ranked prospect, according to FanGraphs, and was one of the players sent over to Washington in the Juan Soto trade. He’s just 20 years old and acquitted himself well this spring, throwing three shutout innings. He ended last season at High-A but could begin the 2025 season at Double-A as he gets closer to his big league debut.

Jarlin Susana walked two in a hitless eighth inning Saturday against the Cardinals.
The 20-year-old Susana, already one of the hardest throwers in pro ball, topped out at 102.0 mph in this outing. Middling command and the lack of a third pitch could result in him moving to the pen at some point, but that’s not the plan for now. He has a sky-high ceiling if he does learn to throw more strikes and figure out a changeup.

Nationals RHP prospect Jarlin Susana struck out 10 and allowed one run over five innings on Friday for High-A Wilmington.
Susana logged his second consecutive double-digit strikeout performance as his meteoric rise through Washington’s system continues unabated. The dynamic 20-year-old righty has compiled a strong 4.34 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 157/48 K/BB ratio across 103 2/3 innings (24 starts) this season between High-A Wilmington and Low-A Fredericksburg. His ability to miss bats is going to translate to the highest level and make him an immediate fantasy contributor once he arrives.

Nationals RHP prospect Jarlin Susana struck out eight over five innings on Friday for High-A Wilmington.
Susana earned a promotion last month to High-A after a dominant run in the Carolina League to open the year. The dynamic 20-year-old righty has compiled a strong 3.15 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 26/3 K/BB ratio across 20 innings (four starts) since last month’s promotion. It wouldn’t be shocking if he ended the year in the upper minors as one of the better pitching prospects in the fantasy landscape.
