Shayna Rubin of The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Jesse Chavez will be the Giants’ bullpen coach in 2026.
Chavez announced his retirement after the 2025 season, and it’s not a big surprise to see the 42-year-old enter the coaching ranks. He’ll be tasked with helping improve a San Francisco bullpen that had its fair share of ups-and-downs last year.

Jesse Chavez announces his retirement from baseball.
Chavez retires at the age of 41 after completing 18 seasons while pitching for nine different teams. The right-hander finishes his career with an ERA of 4.27 over 1,142 innings of work with 51 wins and nine saves. He spent six of those seasons with Atlanta, and it only feels like more because he signed with the team more times than we can count.

Braves RHP Jesse Chavez has elected free agency.
We know how this saga ends, right? Chavez figures to be back with Atlanta at some point on a brand-new minor league pact. It might’ve happened by the time you finish reading the sentence. Seriously. Go check.

Braves designated RHP Jesse Chavez for assignment.
The Braves needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for the addition of Dane Dunning on Thursday, and with Chavez getting the boot it’s possible that Dunning could report directly to the big league club. Chavez, 41, has posted a 9.00 ERA, 2.38 WHIP and an 8/5 K/BB ratio across eight innings for the Braves this season. It’s possible they could once again bring him back on a minor league deal if he passed through waivers unclaimed.

Braves selected the contract of RHP Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Gwinnett.
He’s back. Chavez has been a mainstay in Atlanta’s bullpen mix for nearly a half-decade at this juncture with multiple stints over the past few years. The 41-year-old journeyman joins the club’s relief corps ahead of Sunday morning’s showdown against the Orioles at Truist Park. He made two appearances earlier this season before being jettisoned and returning on a minor league pact.

Braves signed RHP Jesse Chavez to a minor league contract.
Once again, the 41-year-old hurler checked out the open market and decided that remaining with the Braves made the most sense for him. He’ll continue to function as extra bullpen depth in the upper minors.

Set your watch. We’re anticipating he’ll re-sign with the Braves in approximately five minutes. The 41-year-old journeyman went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend. He made two relief appearances for Atlanta in his latest stint with the club.

It can’t possibly end like this, right? We’re willing to wager that Chavez ends up back with the Braves, like usual, in a couple days after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 41-year-old journeyman made two relief appearances for Atlanta in his latest stint with the club, which lasted just a couple days.

Braves selected the contract of RHP Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Because it’s a day that ends in Y. Chavez is up for a second time with the Braves this season; he allowed one run over two innings in his one day with the team on March 31. The 41-year-old had a 1.42 ERA and a 12/0 K/BB in 6 1/3 innings for Gwinnett.

Braves re-signed RHP Jesse Chavez to a minor league contract.
Of course they did. Chavez elected free agency after being designated for assignment, but the 41-year-old can’t quit Atlanta, and Atlanta can’t quit him.
