Rangers signed INF Jonah Bride to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Bride reunites with new Rangers manager Skip Schumaker, who he previously played for in Miami during the 2024 campaign. The 29-year-old infielder got into 45 games last season between the Marlins and Twins, hitting .170 (19-for-112) with five RBI during that span. He represents a low-risk insurance policy at both corner infield spots after both Josh Jung and Jake Burger struggled to stay healthy this past season.

Twins sent 3B Jonah Bride outright to Triple-A St. Paul.
Bride was removed from Minnesota’s 40-man roster over the weekend with Royce Lewis coming back from the injured list. The 29-year-old third baseman hit .208 (15-for-72) over 33 games for the Twins after being acquired from the Marlins back in mid-April.
  • MIN 3rd Baseman #31
Twins designated INF Jonah Bride for assignment.
With Royce Lewis set to return from the injured list on Tuesday, the Twins needed to free a spot on their active roster and Bride became the unfortunate casualty. The 29-year-old has slashed a ghastly .170/.248/.188 with zero homers, five RBI and a 39/11 K/BB ratio in 125 plate appearances between the Twins and Marlins this season.
  • MIN Right Fielder #38
Matt Wallner is not in the Twins’ starting lineup for Sunday night’s matchup against the Tigers in Motown.
With tough left-hander Tarik Skubal toeing the slab for the Tigers, both Wallner and Trevor Larnach will get the night off for the Twins. Willi Castro will patrol right field in his place while Jonah Bride will draw a rare start at third base and bat eighth for the Twins.

Royce Lewis is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Rays.
Durability hasn’t been Lewis’ calling card throughout the early stages of his career, so he deserves some credit for staying on the field of late. He’ll get a break on Tuesday night after starting 16 of 18 games since returning from the injured list back on May 6. It’ll be Jonah Bride getting a rare opportunity at the hot corner.
  • MIN Shortstop #4
Carlos Correa left Thursday’s game against the Orioles with an apparent injury.
Correa suffered a collision with Byron Buxton in the field of play and he was unable to continue. It appeared that the two made head-to-head contact, but the Twins should announce exactly what the injury is before the conclusion of the contest with Baltimore. Buxton was able to continue, and Jonah Bride replaced Correa in the lineup.
  • MIN 3rd Baseman #23
Royce Lewis is not in the lineup for the second game of a doubleheader against the Orioles on Wednesday.
Lewis gets the second game of the doubleheader off as the Twins continue to have Lewis in maintenance mode since returning from the injured list. The 25-year-old will begin the contest on the bench with Jonah Bride getting the start at third.
  • MIN Shortstop #50
Willi Castro (oblique) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Braves.
There’s zero incentive for the Twins to rush Castro back too quickly and risk a setback. The versatile infielder will sit out his second consecutive contest on Saturday night due to a right oblique issue. It’ll be Jonah Bride making his first appearance at the hot corner.
  • MIN 3rd Baseman #41
Twins acquired INF Jonah Bride from the Marlins for cash considerations.
Bride gives Minnesota some immediate help at multiple spots with Willi Castro (oblique), Matt Wallner (hamstring) and Carlos Correa (wrist) dealing with injuries. The 29-year-old infielder was removed from Miami’s 40-man roster earlier this week after going 4-for-40 in 12 games to open the year.
  • MIA 3rd Baseman #41
Marlins designated INF Jonah Bride for assignment.
Bride was a nice surprise for the Marlins last season, but the exit velocity numbers failed to back up his .276/.357/.461 line. This year, he was off to a 4-for-40 start with no extra-base hits and two RBI. He’s off the roster now just a couple of weeks after opening up as the team’s regular No. 3 hitter. Given that he’s 29 and possesses limited defensive value, there’s a good chance he’ll clear waivers.
