Marlins re-signed OF Jonathan Davis to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Davis appeared in 34 games for Miami in 2023, hitting .244/.307/.378 with two homers, 10 RBI and a 29/7 K/BB ratio over 104 plate appearances. He was filling in for Jazz Chisholm before Davis himself got hurt and had to undergo season-ending knee surgery in July. The 31-year-old outfielder was sent outright to Triple-A Jacksonville at the end of the regular season, but refused the assignment to explore the open market. At the end of that, he found himself back in Miami, providing the organization with valuable depth in CF behind Chisholm.

Marlins transferred OF Jonathan Davis to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed in the 31-year-old outfielder’s prognosis — he’s still slated to miss 3-to-6 months after undergoing surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee — this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster for Johnny Cueto’s return.

Jonathan Davis is expected to miss 3-6 months after undergoing right knee meniscus surgery.
It’s a tough break for Davis as he’ll likely miss the remainder of the regular season. With both Davis and Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) on the injured list, there’s an opportunity for rookie Dane Myers to emerge as Miami’s primary center fielder, at least for a few weeks until the trade deadline.

No word yet on exactly how long Davis will be sidelined following the procedure, but the positive news is that he isn’t dealing with a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Marlins placed OF Jonathan Davis on the 10-day injured list with a sprained right knee.
Awful timing for Davis, who was going to get most of the time in center with Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the injured list. Now it’ll be Garrett Hampson and Dane Myers instead. Davis has hit .244/.307/.378 in 104 PA for the Marlins.

The 31-year-old outfielder is merely dealing with a right knee contusion. It sounds like there’s optimism that he’ll be able to avoid a trip to the injured list, but they’ll have to wait and see how he’s feeling on Wednesday to say for sure.

Joanthan Davis was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Cardinals with an apparent right knee injury.
David had to be carted off after slamming his right knee while attempting to make a diving catch on a line-drive to right-center field in the fifth inning. There should be an update on his status soon, but it certainly looks like he’s headed to the injured list.

Jonathan Davis is not in the Marlins’ lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Padres.
Davis takes a seat after making five consecutive starts for the Marlins, including a pair in the leadoff spot over the weekend. The 31-year-old journeyman is hitting .364 (8-for-22) with one homer through six games since being acquired last week by Miami. It’ll be Bryan De La Cruz in the leadoff spot on Tuesday evening.
