Orioles’ team president Mike Elias told reporters on Friday that Jordan Westburg is dealing with a partially torn UCL in his elbow.
That’s in addition to the oblique issue that had shelved him recently in Orioles’ camp. Elias noted that Westburg will not undergo Tommy John surgery, opting instead for PRP injections. He’s going to miss the entire month of April at a minimum and will then be re-evaluated. It’s another major setback for the talented but oft-injured 27-year-old infielder.

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz said Jordan Westburg (elbow/oblique) is “physically unable to participate right now.”
Albernaz didn’t directly address what was wrong with Westburg or how long he might be out. He added that Westburg is talking to the Orioles’ medical staff and seeing outside doctors as the team tries to “make sure that we’re doing our due diligence and make sure Jordan is in the best chance to play this year.” All of that sounds far more ominous than we’d like, and while we hope for Westburg’s good health, we can’t recommend drafting him in fantasy leagues.

MASN’s Roch Kubatko reports that there is no timeline for Jordan Westburg’s (oblique) return.
Westburg also mentioned that he “doesn’t know how it happened.” He just woke up sore and went to the team to get an MRI on his oblique. While it’s not currently expected to be a long-term absence, Westburg has been snake-bitten by injuries during his brief MLB tenure, so it’s not a great sign that he’s already hurt. His injuries make him a bit of a risky bet in fantasy baseball leagues but one that’s still worth taking if you don’t expect a full season of playing time.

Orioles GM Mike Elias said Jordan Westburg (oblique) will be a “few games late into spring play.”
He’s turned a corner, per Elias, but this oblique injury popped up three weeks ago. It’s not expected to impact his status for Opening Day at this time. This shouldn’t impact Westburg’s fantasy stock too much from where we sit today, but as we learned with Gunnar Henderson last Spring Training, sometimes the lingering injuries do indeed linger.
  • BAL 2nd Baseman #11
Jordan Westburg went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run on Friday against the Yankees.
Westburg made Yanks’ starter Will Warren pay for an 0-2 sweeper that inexplicably caught too much of the plate and sent it exactly one row deep in the left field stands. He had two other base hits in this game as well while he tries to end what’s been an inconsistent season for him – mostly due to a few trips to the injured list – on a high note.
  • BAL 2nd Baseman #7
Jackson Holliday was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Rays due to a knee issue.
It sounds like the Orioles aren’t going to take any chances in what amounts to a meaningless contest with Holliday experiencing some knee discomfort. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the 21-year-old former top prospect sit out a couple additional games during the final week of the season for precautionary reasons. Jordan Westburg moves over to the keystone with rookie standout Jeremiah Jackson handling the hot corner.
  • BAL 2nd Baseman #11
Jordan Westburg is on the bench for Sunday’s series finale against the Yankees.
Westburg will get a breather in this one after going 1-for-20 with 10 strikeouts over five games since returning from the injured list earlier this week following a nearly one-month absence recovering from a sprained ankle. It’ll be rookie sensation Jeremiah Jackson getting an opportunity at the hot corner in his place.
  • BAL Shortstop #11
Jordan Westburg went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts as the Orioles were shut out by Max Fried and the Yankees on Thursday evening in Baltimore.
As a team, the Orioles tallied just three hits in the ballgame — all of them singles — so he wasn’t the only culprit for the poor offensive performance. The Orioles struck out 15 times as a team in the ballgame — 13 of them against starter Max Fried. For the season, the 26-year-old infielder is now slashing .264/.318/.454 with 15 homers, 34 RBI and one stolen base in 318 plate appearances.
  • BAL Right Fielder #9
Tyler O’Neill is starting at DH and batting fourth for the Orioles on Wednesday against the White Sox.
O’Neill had the day off on Tuesday as the Orioles continue to manage his at-bats following a right wrist injury. The 30-year-old has gone 2-for-11 in his three games since coming back with three strikeouts and one RBI. It’s hard to trust him right now in fantasy leagues. Colton Cowser will be on the bench Tuesday with Jordan Westburg moving from DH to second base and Jeremiah Jackson shifting to the outfield.

Orioles activated INF Jordan Westburg from the 10-day injured list.
Westburg returns to Baltimore’s lineup at DH and batting cleanup for Tuesday’s showdown against the White Sox following a nearly one-month recovering from a sprained ankle. The 26-year-old infielder has been limited to just 73 contests this season as a result of three separate injured list stints for unrelated ailments.
