  • CHC Starting Pitcher #36
Jordan Wicks allowed seven runs over three innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.
The Dodgers jumped on Wicks in the first inning, starting with a leadoff homer by Shohei Ohtani. Tommy Edman, Will Smith, and Max Muncy all took Wicks deep before the inning was over, putting five runs on the board. A walk and two more hits in the third made it seven runs on Wicks. He was done after three innings, ending his day with a 5.27 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and a 38/18 K/BB ratio across 41 innings. The 25-year-old left-hander is in line for a start against the Athletics in Chicago on Tuesday.

Jordan Wicks was charged with three runs in five innings Friday in a loss to the Yankees.
All three runs scored in the top of the third, when the first four hitters in the Yankees lineup went walk, single, double, single. Wicks allowed just two other hits in the game, both of them singles, but the damage was done. He’ll make his next start against the Dodgers, so he probably won’t prove worth using in mixed leagues.

Jordan Wicks allowed one run in five innings and got the win in the Cubs’ 14-1 victory over the Nationals on Sunday.
Wicks gave up four hits, walked none and struck out none. Wicks was solid in his first start for the Cubs since June 14th. Not striking out a single batter calls into question how repeatable this performance might be against stiffer competition. The 25-year-old left-hander is set to face the Yankees at home next week.

Cubs reinstated LHP Jordan Wicks off the 60-day injured list.
Wicks is going to get the start Sunday against the Nationals. The left-hander missed over two months while dealing with a Grade 2 left oblique hamstring. Wicks isn’t an elite fantasy option, but he does offer enough upside to call him a reasonable — if volatile — fantasy streamer for Sunday’s contest.

Jordan Wicks allowed one hit and struck out four over four innings in his rehab start for Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.
Wicks threw 53 pitches in his third rehab start as he comes back from an oblique strain. He’ll probably pitch at least once more before the Cubs decide what to do with him next. They could potentially bring him back as a middle reliever, give him Kyle Hendricks’ rotation spot or option him to Triple-A until something else opens up.

Cubs transferred LHP Jordan Wicks to the 60-day injured list with an oblique strain.
Wicks was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right oblique strain, which foreshadowed a lengthy absence. The Cubs are moving him to the 60-day injured list now to make room on the 40-man roster for Jesus Tinoco. Kyle Hendricks will continue to occupy Wicks’ spot in the Cubs’ rotation.

Jordan Wicks was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right oblique strain.
That’s certainly not the news that the Cubs were hoping for. Now rather than missing just a couple of weeks, it’s likely that the 24-year-old southpaw will be looking at an extended absence. Kyle Hendricks is expected to hold down Wicks’ spot in the Cubs’ rotation for the foreseeable future.

Cubs placed LHP Jordan Wicks on the 15-day injured list with a right oblique strain.
Wicks suffered the injury during Friday’s start against the Cardinals and is likely to wind up missing at least a couple weeks, even in a best-case scenario. It’ll probably be Kyle Hendricks taking his spot in Chicago’s starting rotation since they don’t really have a ton of alternatives at the moment.

Cubs’ manager Craig Counsell admitted after Friday’s loss to the Cardinals that Jordan Wicks will likely land on the 15-day injured list with the oblique strain that he suffered on Friday.
Wicks was pulled from his outing against the Cardinals after just 1 2/3 innings after sustaining the injury. Kyle Hendricks did a nice job in relief of him on Friday and he seems like the most logical candidate to replace Wicks in the Cubs’ rotation. As always, he makes for an unappealing option for fantasy purposes.

Cubs LHP Jordan Wicks (oblique) left Friday afternoon’s game against the Cardinals with a trainer.
The injuries keep coming for Cubs pitchers. Wicks left the mound with trainers in the second inning on Friday. Cubs manager Craig Counsell confirmed on the broadcast that it was an oblique injury. We’ll have an update later once we know more, but it seems like this injury might require a stint on the injured list.
