Diamondbacks optioned RHP Juan Burgos to Triple-A Reno.
Burgos apparently checked out fine from a physical standpoint after being struck by a comebacker during Monday’s extra-inning affair versus the Rangers. The 25-year-old has been shipped out to enable Arizona to bring in a fresh relief arm.

Juan Burgos left Monday’s game in the 10th inning after getting hit in his pitching arm by a comebacker.
Burgos took a 109-mph liner off his forearm, resulting in a two-run single after the ball riccocheted into foul territory. Hopefully, he’ll prove to be day-to-day. He didn’t seem to be in intense pain, but he definitely didn’t feel up to continuing.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Juan Burgos from Triple-A Reno.
Burgos was acquired from the Mariners in the deal for Eugenio Suárez, and now will have a chance to make his debut with the D-backs. The 25-year-old could be a high-leverage option in the coming years, but likely won’t get those chances to begin his tenure.

Diamondbacks acquired RHP Juan Burgos, RHP Hunter Cranton, and 1B Tyler Locklear from the Mariners in exchange for 3B Eugenio Suárez.
Burgos immediately becomes the 22nd-ranked prospect in Arizona’s system, but could be promoted to join their bullpen soon. The 25-year-old has a 0.87 ERA, 0.74 WHIP, and 31/9 K/BB ratio in 31 innings across Double-A and Triple-A this season.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #67
Mariners optioned RHP Juan Burgos from Triple-A Tacoma.
Burgos had been used sparingly since being called up on June 28 and gave up three runs over 6 2/3 innings in four appearances.

Mariners selected the contract of RHP Juan Burgos from Triple-A Tacoma.
It’s the first trip to the big leagues for the 25-year-old hurler. Burgos has been absolutely dominant at Triple-A Tacoma this season, posting a 0.64 ERA, 0.61 WHIP and a 29/7 K/BB ratio over 28 innings of work. He has nothing left to prove there, so the M’s will see if he can continue that dominance at the major league level. Zach Pop was designated for assignment in a corresponding move on Saturday.
