Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk as the Phillies defeated the Padres 3-2 on Wednesday.
Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto each connected for solo shots in the bottom of the seventh, giving Philadelphia a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. It was the 23rd homer of the campaign for Schwarber, maintaining his MLB lead. The veteran slugger re-signed with the Phillies on a five-year, $150 million deal this past offseason. Through a little over two months of play, he has a career-high slugging percentage and wRC+.

Kyle Schwarber hit a solo homer in a loss to the Dodgers on Friday.
The only run — and hit — the Phillies were able to pick up off Justin Wrobleski was Schwarber’s 22nd homer of the season. He’s now driven in 39 runs on the season, which puts him on pace for around 62 homers and 111 RBI on the year. For many, that’s not remotely sustainable, but while you can’t expect a 60-homer campaign from anyone, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise in the slightest if Schwarber reached that mark someday.
  • PHI Designated Hitter #12
Kyle Schwarber is hitting leadoff on Tuesday against the Padres.
Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly has flipped Schwarber and Trea Turner on his lineup card. It’s something the club has done in the past and doesn’t carry massive fantasy ramifications. Schwarber launched his big league-leading 21st round-tripper during Monday’s series opener and has gone deep 10 times in 20 games since the start of May.
  • PHI Designated Hitter #12
Kyle Schwarber launched his major league-leading 21st home run of the season on Monday, lifting the Phillies to a 3-0 win over the Padres.
Schwarber took Padres starter Griffin Canning deep to right field in the opening frame for his first big fly since missing three games due to illness last week. The 33-year-old veteran slugger has done most of his damage since the start of May, leaving the yard an astounding 10 times in 20 contests during that span. He’s spent the last few years cementing his legacy as one of the most consistent power hitters of his generation and is on pace to eclipse the lofty 45-homer plateau for the fourth time in the last five years.
  • PHI Designated Hitter #12
Kyle Schwarber went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts on Friday against the Guardians in his return to the lineup.
It doesn’t come as a total surprise to see Schwarber looking a bit rusty after missing three consecutive games due to illness earlier this week. The 33-year-old slugger leads the majors with 20 home runs this season and has been arguably the hottest hitter in baseball since the start of May. He’s going to be just fine.
  • PHI Designated Hitter #12
Kyle Schwarber (illness) is back in the Phillies’ lineup Friday vs. Gavin Williams and the Guardians.
Schwarber missed three games with an illness earlier this week, but he’s back to hitting second and serving as Philadelphia’s designated hitter. The lefty slugger leads the majors with 20 homers entering Memorial Day weekend.
  • PHI Designated Hitter #12
Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly told reporters Kyle Schwarber (illness) was available to pinch-hit during Wednesday’s loss to the Reds.
Mattingly added that Schwarber was available, but they didn’t get to a spot in the ninth inning where they felt like they could use him an eventual 9-4 loss. The 33-year-old slugger has missed three consecutive games due to illness, but the fact that he was available to pinch-hit strongly implies that he’ll be ready for Friday’s series opener against the Guardians.
  • PHI Designated Hitter #12
Kyle Schwarber (illlnes) remains out of the lineup on Wednesday against the Reds.
This will be the third straight missed game for Schwarber, who is dealing with an undisclosed illness. Bryce Harper will continue to DH, with Alec Bohm at first base and EdMunro Sosa at third base.
  • PHI Designated Hitter #12
Kyle Schwarber (illness) remains out of the lineup on Tuesday against the Reds.
This time, Trea Turner will slide into the designated hitter spot, which will allow Edmundo Sosa to remain in the lineup at shortstop and bat seventh. We wouldn’t expect Schwarber’s absence to extend much longer.
  • PHI Designated Hitter #12
Kyle Schwarber is out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Reds due to illness.
Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly told reporters Schwarber is under the weather and will get some time off to rest and recover. The 33-year-old slugger is arguably the hottest hitter in baseball right now after homering nine times in his last 10 games. He leads the majors with 20 big flies in 47 games. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern and fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day.
