Marlins manager Clayton McCullough told reporters it’s a possibility that Kyle Stowers will play first base this season.
It sounds like the Marlins are going to give Stowers a look at first base during his upcoming minor league rehab assignment. It’s an interesting solution to Miami’s outfield glut since they have a hole at the cold corner with Christopher Morel (oblique) on the shelf for a couple weeks. Stowers has been out since the late stages of spring training recovering from a right hamstring strain. The 28-year-old put together a breakout campaign in his full-season Miami debut last year, slashing 288/.386/.544 with 25 homers in 117 games.

Marlins placed OF Kyle Stowers on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.
As expected, Stowers opens the season with a trip to the injured list after suffering a hamstring strain in the late stages of spring training. The 28-year-old corner outfielder will be reassessed in mid-April to determine whether he can resume baseball activities. It sounds like he’s going to be on the shelf until at least early May, even in a best-case scenario.

The Marlins are signing Austin Slater to a one-year contract, according to SportsGrid’s Craig Mish.
Slater finds a new home with the Marlins shortly after opting out of his contract with the Tigers over the weekend. The 33-year-old veteran’s arrival helps soften the blow of losing both Kyle Stowers (hamstring) and Esteury Ruiz (oblique) to injuries last week. He’ll operate in a lefty-mashing capacity off the bench for Miami, serving as a short-side platoon option to complement left-handed corner outfielders Owen Caissie and Griffin Conine.

Kyle Stowers will open the season on the 15-day injured list after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain.
Stowers is expected to be shelved for 3-4 weeks. He had battled hamstring issues early on during spring training and then aggravated it again during Friday’s Grapefruit League contest against the Astros. Fantasy managers shouldn’t expect to have him in lineups until the end of April. Griffin Conine figures to be the direct replacement for Stowers on the active roster, perhaps in a platoon role, with Heriberto Hernández serving on the short side of the platoon.

Kyle Stowers (hamstring) will undergo an MRI, according to Marlins manager Clayton McCullough.
Stowers will undergo additional imaging to determine the severity of the injury after being removed from Friday’s spring training game with right hamstring tightness. The 28-year-old corner outfielder has dealt with hamstring issues throughout the spring. There should be a definitive update on his status later this weekend. Obviously, his status for next week’s season opener is in jeopardy.

Kyle Stowers was removed from Friday’s Cactus League victory over the Astros due to right hamstring tightness.
The hamstring issue has plagued the 28-year-old outfielder throughout the spring and it’s possible that this setback could wind up costing him Opening Day. Prior to exiting, Stowers had been 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Look for the Marlins to provide another update on his status on Saturday.

Kyle Stowers went 0-for-2 with a walk Saturday in his first appearance since suffering a hamstring strain last month.
Stowers played five innings in left field before leaving as scheduled. He’ll want to catch up on at-bats over the next 10 days to prepare for Opening Day, which is why he was leading off today.

Kyle Stowers (hamstring) will return to spring training action on Saturday.
Stowers has been sidelined with a mild hamstring strain that he suffered at the beginning of spring training. He will return to both the lineup and the outfield on Saturday, which means he should be fully ready to begin this season as an everyday starter in Miami.

Kyle Stowers (hamstring) took swings against live pitching on Friday without any issues.
The 28-year-old outfielder continues to work his way back from a mild right hamstring strain. The Marlins are naturally proceeding with caution there, but there’s still plenty of time for Stowers to get himself right before Opening Day.

Kyle Stowers (hamstring) will begin a running progression soon.
Stowers was able to swing the bat 30 times Sunday, and he also played catch. The 28-year-old has a mild right hamstring strain, and is expected to miss a couple of weeks. He should be ready to roll by Opening Day, but it’s a situation to monitor.
