The Athletic’s Brittany Ghiroli reports long-term extension talks between the Marlins and Kyle Stowers stalled earlier this offseason.
Ghiroli adds that the two sides have stopped discussing a long-term extension after being incredibly far apart — with Stowers seeking roughly $100 million and the Marlins settling closer to the $50 million range. The 27-year-old All-Star outfielder is coming off a breakout season in which he hit .288/.386/.544 with 25 homers in 117 games. He isn’t arbitration-eligible until 2027 and won’t reach free agency until 2030. Stowers enters next season as a top-30 fantasy outfielder with realistic 30-homer and 10-steal upside.

Kyle Stowers (oblique) has been shut down after suffering a setback.
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough didn’t sound too optimistic when sharing the latest update after Stowers, who was working his way back from a left oblique strain, was pulled off his rehab assignment last weekend after suffering a right oblique strain. The 27-year-old doesn’t have a ton of time to make it back to Miami with only two weeks left in the regular season, so there’s a strong possibility he’s done for the year and can be safely dropped in shallow mixed leagues.

Kyle Stowers (oblique) remains out of the lineup for Sunday’s minor league rehab game for Triple-A Jacksonville.
Stowers, who is working his way back from an oblique strain, remains out of the lineup for the second straight rehab contest due to general soreness. It’s possible he’ll be pulled off the rehab assignment altogether if he’s not ready to return when minor league action resumes on Tuesday at the Triple-A level. There should be an update on the 27-year-old breakout slugger’s status early next week.

Kyle Stowers was scratched from his scheduled minor league rehab game at Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday due to general soreness.
It’s not believed to be anything serious, and the 27-year-old outfielder is expected to return to action on Sunday. It remains to be seen how many games he’ll need there before he’s cleared to rejoin the Marlins. He should be back at some point early next week barring any further setbacks.

Kyle Stowers (oblique) went 0-for-3 with a walk on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Jacksonville.
Stowers kicked off a rehab assignment on Friday night nearly three weeks after hitting the injured list with a left oblique strain. The power-hitting breakout sensation should rejoin Miami’s lineup early next week when they face the division-rival Nationals.

Marlins placed OF Kyle Stowers on the 10-day injured list with a left side strain.
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough told reporters Stowers will miss several weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 left oblique strain. There isn’t an official timetable yet, but fantasy managers should anticipate him being on the shelf until at least early September. The 27-year-old is in the midst of a legitimate breakthrough campaign, slashing .288/.368/.544 with 25 homers and five steals in 457 plate appearances over 117 games. He’ll enter next season as a top 25 fantasy outfielder.

The Marlins will place Kyle Stowers on the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday’s game against the Red Sox with a Grade 1 left side strain.
Stowers will be out for “several weeks” according to manager Clayton McCullough. The injury occurred during Friday’s game against Boston. The 27-year-old has struggled as of late, but it’s still a significant loss for the Marlins and fantasy managers. There’s a chance we won’t see Stowers again until 2025.

Kyle Stowers is absent from Saturday’s lineup with left side discomfort.
Stowers will undergo further evaluation and testing after experiencing side discomfort during Friday’s game against the Red Sox. The 27-year-old breakout sensation has cooled off in August, batting .228 (13-for-57) with two homers and 17 strikeouts over a 15-game span. There should be an update on his status at some point later this weekend regarding whether he’s dealing with an oblique issue that would likely require a trip to the injured list.

Kyle Stowers is absent from the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Red Sox.
It’s a rare off day for Stowers against a right-handed starter — Brayan Bello in this instance — as he attempts to work through a frosty stretch at the dish since August 1 where he’s batted .228 (13-for-57) with two homers and 17 strikeouts over a 15-game span. It’ll be Heriberto Hernandez in left field with Derek Hill taking over in center field.
