Diamondbacks signed INF Luis Urías to a minor league contract.
Urías started the 2025 season with the Athletics and slashed 230/.315/.338 with eight homers, 25 RBI, two stolen bases, and a 45/31 K/BB ratio across 330 plate appearances. He was designated for assignment and then latched on with the Brewers, where he played 13 minor league games. He can play most positions on the infield and will be solid organizational depth.

Brewers signed INF Luis Urías to a minor league contract.
The 28-year-old infielder was released by the Athletics on Thursday. He returns to the place where he had the most success in his career — crushing 23 homers and driving in 75 runs for the Brewers during the 2022 season. He’ll report to Triple-A Nashville for the time being.

    Athletics released INF Luis Urías.
The 28-year-old infielder had been designated for assignment earlier in the week. He passed through waivers unclaimed and the A’s granted him his outright release. Urías hit just .230/.315/.338 with eight homers, 25 RBI, two stolen bases and a 45/31 K/BB ratio across 330 plate appearances with the A’s this season. He’s now free to peddle his wares on the open market.

Athletics designated 2B Luis Urías for assignment.
Urías has been sent packing with the Athletics deciding to bring Zack Gelof back from the minors following an extended demotion. The 28-year-old should attract some interest on waivers after hitting .230/.315/.338 with eight homers and two steals in 330 plate appearances over 96 games.

Luis Urías (back) is starting at second base and batting eighth against the Nationals on Thursday.
After missing two games with a back injury, Urías will return to the lineup, which pushes Gio Urshela back to the bench. Urías has been getting extra playing time with both Max Muncy (hand) and Jacob Wilson (forearm) on the injured list, but he’s gone just 6-for-30 in 11 games since the All-Star break and isn’t a recommended add in any fantasy leagues.

Luis Urías (back) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Nationals.
Urías has not been able to get into games since leaving Sunday against the D-backs with back spasms. The 28-year-old will remain on the bench for Wednesday with Max Schuemann getting the start at second base in Urías’s absence.

Luis Urías (back) is absent from the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Nationals.
Urías will sit out Tuesday’s contest in Washington, D.C. after leaving Sunday’s game against the Diamondbacks with lower back spasms. He’s presumably day-to-day for now since he hasn’t been placed on the injured list after a couple days of evaluation and treatment. It’ll be Max Schuemann taking over at the keystone in his absence.

Luis Urías was removed from Sunday’s contest against the Diamondbacks in the second inning due to lower back spasms.
Urías was pulled so early in the contest that he never got an opportunity to bat. No word yet on the severity of the issue. Gio Urshela entered the game to replace him on Sunday with Max Schuemann shifting over to cover second base.

Luis Urías went 2-for-4 and slugged a solo homer on Thursday night, helping to power the Athletics to a 5-2 victory over the Astros.
Urías did his damage in the sixth inning, crushing a 1-2 fastball from Jason Alexander for a 367-foot (98.8 mph EV) solo shot that extended the A’s lead to 5-0. He also singled in the fourth inning. With his two-hit attack, the 28-year-old infielder is now hitting .238/.320/.367 with eight homers and 19 RBI on the season.
  • ATH Shortstop #10
Athletics placed INF Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list with a fractured right hand.
Initial X-rays came back negative, but Muncy underwent additional imaging on Tuesday that revealed the fracture. No word yet whether he’ll require surgery. There’s a strong possibility his rookie campaign is over. The 22-year-old infielder suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch during Monday’s game against the Rangers. It’ll likely be veteran Luis Urías taking over at the hot corner in his absence.
