    Rangers released OF Mark Canha.
As expected, the Rangers granted Canha’s request, and the 37-year-old is now free to explore other opportunities. It’s still hard to imagine him landing a major league deal elsewhere, he’s probably going to have to spend some time in the minor leagues.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that veteran outfielder Mark Canha has requested his release from the Rangers.
The 37-year-old would like to explore big league opportunities elsewhere. While he chose to remain with the organization after he didn’t make the team out of spring training, Canha has remained at extended spring training since then and has not appeared in any minor league games. The expectation is that the Rangers will accommodate his request.

Mark Canha went 1-for-4 and clubbed his third home run of the spring as the Rangers fell to the Brewers on Thursday evening.
Canha victimized Brewers’ right-hander Brandon Woodruff for a 391-foot (99.9 mph EV) solo shot in the fourth inning, trimming the Rangers’ early deficit to 11-3. He’s making a strong case for inclusion on the Rangers’ Opening Day roster, hitting .316 (12-for-38) with three homers, six RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

Mark Canha went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored on Wednesday, lifting the Rangers to a lopsided 11-4 win over the Guardians.
Canha’s path to a spot on Texas’ season-opening roster involves a complicated mix of injuries and ineffectiveness from bench options like Michael Helman, Sam Haggerty and Ezequiel Duran. The 37-year-old veteran failed to make an impact with the Royals last year and is merely emergency depth at this advanced stage of his career.

Rangers signed 1B/OF Mark Canha to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 37-year-old struggled mightily during his time with the Royals in 2025, slashing a meager .212/.272/.265 with just one homer, six RBI and a 24/7 K/BB ratio across 125 plate appearances and was ultimately released in August. He’ll see if he has anything left in the tank as he fights for a bench spot on the Rangers’ Opening Day roster.

    Royals released OF Mark Canha.
The Royals had designated the 36-year-old outfielder for assignment earlier in the week and now he’s officially a free agent. Canha slashed a woeful .212/.272/.265 with just one homer and six RBI in 125 plate appearances during his time with the Royals. There’s a chance that a contender could view him as a viable bench bat to deploy against left-handed pitching.

Royals designated OF Mark Canha for assignment.
There’s no longer a spot for Canha on Kansas City’s roster after missing nearly six weeks recovering from left elbow epicondylitis. The 36-year-old veteran batted .212/.272/.265 with one homer and six RBI over 46 games in a part-tome role this season with the Royals.

Jac Caglianone (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
The talented rookie has been on the injured list since July 26th, so he shouldn’t need an extended rehab assignment. The question is what role he will return to. Since he got hurt, the Royals have acquired Adam Frazier, Randal Grichuk, and Mike Yastrzemski, all of whom can play the outfield. Mark Canha (elbow) is also beginning a rehab assignment, and Michael Massey (ankle) is nearing the end of his rehab assignment. Caglianone was hitting just .147/.205/.280 in his first 161 MLB plate appearances, so the Royals may opt to keep him at Triple-A for a while.

Royals placed OF Mark Canha on the 10-day injured list with left elbow epicondylitis.
Canha has hit just .212/.272/.265 in 125 plate appearances while mostly playing against lefties for the Royals. No word yet on how long this will keep him out, but he probably shouldn’t be in the team’s plans for the second half anyway.
  • KC Center Fielder #8
Drew Waters is not in the Royals’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Red Sox.
It appears to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 26-year-old outfielder. Mark Canha will slide into the lineup in his place and will bat seventh against Red Sox’ right-hander Hunter Dobbins.
