MLB.com’s Mark Bowman reports Didier Fuentes has a greater likelihood of breaking camp with the Braves with Martín Pérez failing to make the Opening Day roster.
Fuentes has been an unexpected revelation this spring, posting a stellar 17/0 K/BB ratio across nine perfect innings over three appearances in Grapefruit League action. The hard-throwing 20-year-old clearly wasn’t ready when he was lit up during a brief four-game run with Atlanta last summer as a teenager. He’s looked magnificent this spring and has a decent chance at breaking camp in Atlanta’s season-opening rotation as their fifth starter. He’ll need to beat out veteran José Suarez to make that a reality. It’s too small of a sample size for fantasy managers to overreact but Fuentes is a talented pitching prospect that could be making a leap this spring. He’s worth rostering in deeper mixed leagues based on that possibility alone.

Martín Pérez allowed one run (none earned) on six hits in 3 2/3 innings against the Phillies on Wednesday.
He struck out three and walked one while throwing 61 percent strikes. He also had just a seven percent whiff rate and allowed five hard-hit balls in under four innings. Pérez’s velocity is up from where it was in 2025, which is good, and he figures to see some innings for the Braves if he sticks around after spring training. Assuming that he doesn’t beat out Bryce Elder for the final spot in the rotation.

Martín Pérez recorded a four-inning save despite giving up three runs to the Rays on Wednesday.
Pérez gave up a three-run homer to Ben Williamson in the sixth before the Rays took out their starters. After that, he had an easy time and wound up striking out six. Pérez probably has the best chance of the Braves’ fringy rotation candidates to beat out Bryce Elder for the fifth spot.

Braves signed LHP Martín Pérez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Pérez got $8 million from the Pirates two years ago and $5 million from the White Sox last year, so it’s surprising to see him settle for a minor league deal now, though perhaps he prioritized pitching for a contender this time around. Pérez had shoulder issues last year and was limited to 11 appearances, but he had a 3.54 ERA and a 19.3% strikeout rate comfortably above his career mark of 16.2%. Given that the Braves have so many middle relief possibilities who are out of options, Pérez might open up in the minors unless a starter gets hurt.

White Sox LHP Martín Pérez declined his $10 million mutual option for 2026.
Pérez joins the ever-expanding free agent pool after pocketing a $1.5 million buyout from the White Sox. The 34-year-old journeyman southpaw missed most of last season due to a flexor strain in his elbow. He can be safely ignored in most fantasy formats regardless of where he winds up as a back-end rotation filler.

White Sox placed LHP Martín Pérez on the 15-day injured list with a left shoulder strain.
Pérez’s season is over. The 34-year-old was removed from Wednesday’s start due to the shoulder issue, and he finishes 2025 with a a 3.54 ERA over 56 innings. The left-hander should see interest on the free-agent market, assuming good health.

Martín Pérez was removed from Wednesday’s start against the Orioles with left shoulder soreness.
The positive news here is that Pérez’s early departure isn’t elbow-related after missing nearly four months earlier this season with a flexor strain. The 34-year-old southpaw is most likely done for the season, even if the issue winds up being relatively minor. He was charged with three runs over 3 2/3 innings before departing Wednesday afternoon’s matinee against Baltimore.

Martín Pérez was lifted from his start against the Orioles in the fourth inning with an apparent injury.
Pérez allowed three runs on five hits before leaving with trainers. The left-hander has pitched well this year, but there’s a good chance that even if this injury isn’t significant, his season is over. There should be an update on Pérez’s status shortly.

Martín Pérez allowed three runs in 6 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Guardians on Friday.
Pérez gave up four hits, walked two and struck out three. The 34-year-old left-hander bounced back after allowing six runs against the Tigers in his last outing. Pérez has now allowed three runs or less in four of his last five starts. He has a 3.27 ERA and 42/20 K/BB ratio in 52 1/3 innings this year. Pérez is lined up to face the Orioles at home next week.

Martín Pérez was clobbered in Saturday night’s loss to the Tigers in Motown, surrendering six runs on five hits over his four innings of work.
The 34-year-old southpaw also issued three walks on the evening and didn’t record a single strikeout. He served up a leadoff home run to Jahmai Jones to start the game, then kept the Tigers’ offense at bay until they struck for five runs in the fourth inning — the final three on a three-run shot by Gleyber Torres. Pérez generated just one swing and miss on 89 pitches on the night, posting a laughable CSW of only 18 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he brings a 3.15 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 39/18 K/BB ratio (45 2/3 innings) into Friday’s showdown against the Guardians in Cleveland.
