Masyn Winn is not in the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Sunday’s tilt against the Twins in Minneapolis.
It’s the second straight Sunday that the 24-year-old infielder has gotten a breather after starting every other game during the week. JJ Wetherholt will slide over and cover shortstop while Bryan Torres draws a start at second base and will bat seventh against Twins’ right-hander Taj Bradley.

Masyn Winn is absent from the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Sunday’s divisional showdown against the Reds.
Winn gets a much-needed breather after playing every inning in each of the team’s last 15 ballgames. He has seen his offensive performance fall off substantially once again this season, slashing just .236/.318/.322 with only two homers, 24 RBI and five stolen bases through his first 239 plate appearances. Jose Fermin will start in his place at shortstop and bat seventh for the Cardinals on Sunday against Reds’ right-hander Rhett Lowder.

JJ Wetherholt (groin) remains out of the lineup for the third consecutive game on Saturday against the Reds.
Wetherholt underwent imaging Friday that came back clean after he missed two games with groin soreness, which qualifies as a positive development for the Cardinals and fantasy managers. The 23-year-old rookie appears likely to return in the near future, possibly as soon as Sunday’s series finale at Busch Stadium. Fellow rookie Bryan Torres draws another start at the keystone with Masyn Winn moving up to the leadoff spot.

JJ Wetherholt is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the Rangers.
Wetherholt will get a break from having to face Rangers lefty MacKenzie Gore. It’s his first day off since May 16. The 23-year-old top prospect has put together an outstanding rookie campaign, slashing .249/.357/.400 with 40 runs scored, nine homers, 25 RBI and seven steals through 58 games. Thomas Saggese takes over at second base with Masyn Winn moving up to the leadoff spot.

Masyn Winn (knee) is back in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Pirates.
Winn is back at shortstop and hitting sixth following a one-game absence due to left knee discomfort. The positive news is that an MRI didn’t turn up any structural damage and he’s feeling well enough to get back in the lineup after a brief hiatus.

Masyn Winn underwent an MRI on his left knee that didn’t reveal any structural damage.
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol added that Winn is day-to-day with left knee discomfort after imaging came back clean. It sounds like there’s optimism he’ll be ready to return to the lineup at some point this week.

Masyn Winn (knee) will undergo an MRI on Tuesday.
Winn will undergo imaging to determine whether he’s dealing with any structural damage since he’s still dealing with some left knee discomfort that popped up over the weekend. There’s obviously some concern that he’ll require a trip to the injured list. There should be an update on his status in the coming days.

Masyn Winn (knee) is out of the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Pirates.
Winn remains out of the lineup after making an early exit from Sunday’s game against the Royals with left knee discomfort. The 24-year-old hasn’t been sent to the injured list, which is an encouraging development. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. It’ll be César Prieto handling shortstop in his absence.

Masyn Winn hopes to play Tuesday after leaving Sunday’s game with left calf tightness.
Winn argued for staying in Sunday’s game, but he was lifted. If he can’t go on Tuesday, then Thomas Saggese or Cesar Prieto could start at short.

Masyn Winn went 2-for-4 and drove in both of the Cardinals’ runs in Friday evening’s loss to the Mariners.
Winn delivered a two-out, two-run single off of George Kirby in the fourth inning that pulled the Cardinals even at 2-2. That would wind up being the extent of their offense in the game. Winn also led off the seventh inning with a single but never advanced past first base. With his two-hit effort, the 24-year-old shortstop is now hitting .270/.360/.405 with one homer, 11 RBI and three stolen bases through his first 86 plate appearances on the season.
